Full Job Description

Position: General Manager

Reports to: Regional Vice President

Location: McComb, MS

The General Manager is responsible for leading the overall operation of a Truway location, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of transportation services while driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and financial performance. This role provides leadership to operations, maintenance, safety, and administrative teams, fostering a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement.

As part of Truway's transportation platform, the General Manager plays a critical role in delivering the personalized service of a locally operated company while leveraging the resources, technology, and support of a growing national organization. The General Manager is responsible for building strong customer relationships, developing high-performing teams, maintaining regulatory compliance, and executing strategies that support sustainable growth and exceptional service delivery. Success in this role requires strong leadership, business acumen, operational expertise, and a commitment to providing a transportation experience that customers and passengers can trust.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

· Direct and oversee daily transportation operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery.

· Develop and implement operational strategies that support company goals and customer expectations.

· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, on-time performance, customer service, employee retention, and financial results.

· Ensure adequate staffing levels to support operational requirements.

· Lead service planning efforts and collaborate with customers to address operational needs and service enhancements.

· Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and service quality.

Financial Management:

· Manage the location's budget, profit and loss statement, and financial performance.

· Develop and execute plans to achieve revenue, profitability, and cost-control objectives.

· Review financial reports and operational metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

· Ensure proper management of labor, overtime, fuel, maintenance, and other operating expenses.

· Participate in forecasting, annual budgeting, and strategic planning activities.

Safety and Compliance:

· Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

· Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local,

DOT, FTA, FMCSA, and company regulations and policies.

· Oversee accident investigations, corrective actions, and risk mitigation initiatives.

· Partner with safety personnel to develop and implement training programs and safety initiatives.

· Maintain readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

Leadership and Employee Development:

· Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing managers and employees.

· Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

· Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities.

· Address employee relations issues in a timely and professional manner.

· Support succession planning and leadership development efforts.

Customer and Community Relations:

· Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, clients, and key stakeholders.

· Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive communication and exceptional service.

· Participate in customer meetings, contract reviews, and service planning discussions.

· Represent the company within the community, industry associations, and professional organizations as appropriate.

· Ensure customer concerns and service issues are addressed promptly and effectively.

Maintenance and Asset Management:

· Partner with maintenance leadership to ensure vehicles and facilities are maintained in a safe and reliable condition.

· Monitor fleet utilization, preventive maintenance compliance, and vehicle availability.

· Support capital planning and fleet replacement initiatives.

· Ensure proper stewardship of company assets and resources.

Qualifications:

Education

· Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation Management, Public Administration, Logistics, or a related field preferred.

· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

· Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in passenger transportation, transit, motorcoach, shuttle, paratransit, or related transportation operations.

· Experience managing multiple departments and large employee populations.

· Proven success leading operational, financial, and customer service initiatives.

· Experience managing budgets and profit-and-loss responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Strong leadership and team-building skills.

· Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and achieve business objectives.

· Knowledge of transportation industry regulations and compliance requirements.

· Strong financial and business acumen.

· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

· Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

· Strong understanding of transportation technologies and operational systems, including dispatch and scheduling software, routing and fleet management platforms, GPS and telematics systems, electronic driver logs, workforce management tools, and performance reporting systems. Ability to leverage technology and data analytics to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, safety performance, and customer experience.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
