Hotel Front Desk Manager / Operations LeadOverview

Horse Creek Inn is seeking a dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented Front Desk Manager / Operations Lead who can take responsibility for daily hotel operations when ownership needs to step away.

This position involves much more than answering phones and checking in guests. We are looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and confident enough to oversee the property, support employees, handle guest concerns, manage laundry flow, and keep the hotel running smoothly without constant supervision.

The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service while demonstrating strong judgment, organization, communication, and independent leadership. This is a hands-on hotel position, so the selected candidate must be willing to assist wherever needed.

Responsibilities

Welcome guests warmly and provide a positive, professional first impression.
Complete guest check-ins and check-outs accurately and efficiently.
Answer hotel phone calls, respond to guest questions, and assist with reservations.
Handle guest concerns and resolve problems professionally whenever possible.
Manage daily hotel and front desk operations while ownership is away.
Communicate with housekeeping employees and coordinate room assignments and cleaning priorities.
Make sure rooms are cleaned, inspected, and ready for arriving guests.
Stay on top of hotel laundry throughout the shift to ensure housekeeping always has enough clean sheets, towels, pillowcases, and other linens.
Monitor washers and dryers, move laundry through each stage promptly, fold linens, and prevent laundry from becoming backed up.
Help with housekeeping when needed, including cleaning guest rooms, making beds, replacing linens, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, taking out trash, and restocking room supplies.
Confirm that housekeeping tasks, laundry, common-area cleaning, and other daily responsibilities are completed properly.
Help keep the lobby, front desk, guest bathroom, hallways, elevator, laundry areas, and other public spaces clean and presentable.
Monitor hotel activity and respond appropriately to operational or maintenance issues.
Process payments, deposits, refunds, and other front desk transactions accurately.
Maintain organized guest records, reservation information, payment records, and shift notes.
Communicate important updates, incidents, maintenance concerns, guest complaints, and staffing issues to ownership.
Restock front desk, breakfast, housekeeping, and guest supplies as needed.
Assist with breakfast preparation, stocking, monitoring, and cleanup when required.
Support and guide other employees during the shift.
Make responsible decisions and keep the hotel running smoothly without needing constant direction.
Follow all Horse Creek Inn policies regarding guest privacy, payments, safety, cleanliness, and customer service.

Qualifications

Previous hotel, front desk, housekeeping, customer service, office, or management experience is preferred.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Excellent phone etiquette and professionalism.
Ability to remain calm and make good decisions during difficult situations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask in a busy hotel environment.
Comfortable using computers, reservation systems, email, and basic office software.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Must be trustworthy when handling guest information, hotel keys, payments, and business operations.
Able to communicate clearly with guests, employees, vendors, and ownership.
Leadership or supervisory experience is highly valued.
Willingness and physical ability to assist with laundry and housekeeping duties when needed.
Ability to lift laundry baskets, bend, stand, walk, and remain active throughout the shift.
Bilingual abilities are a plus but are not required.
Must be willing to assist in all areas of the hotel when necessary.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities and does not need to be reminded about every task. This person must be comfortable stepping into a leadership role and overseeing the hotel when ownership needs to step away.

The right candidate will notice what needs to be done, communicate problems quickly, support the rest of the team, and ensure guests continue receiving excellent service.

It is especially important that this person stays on top of laundry. Clean linens are essential to keeping housekeeping moving and ensuring rooms are ready on time. The selected candidate must actively monitor laundry rather than allowing it to pile up or waiting to be asked.

Although the primary role involves front desk and daily hotel operations, this is a team-oriented, hands-on position. When housekeeping needs assistance, the Operations Lead will be expected to step in and help get rooms completed.

This position is ideal for someone who wants more responsibility and the opportunity to become an important part of Horse Creek Inn’s daily operations.

Schedule

Availability may include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call responsibilities depending on hotel needs.
