Lead Restoration Technician

Rescue Restoration is hiring a Lead Restoration Technician.
This is a working lead position. You'll be on tools every day, running a two-person crew and the jobs assigned to it — leading the work, developing your technician, and owning how the job comes out.
We're locally owned and IICRC-accredited, not a franchise.
Most restoration companies run their technicians 70+ hours a week, and that's the only way the pay works out. We don't operate that way. Our crews average around 40 hours. Some weeks run longer — this is emergency work and that's the nature of it — but the long week is the exception here, not the schedule. Weekend coverage is a defined rotation of roughly one weekend a month, and it's paid separately.
The work:
- Water Restoration — extraction, drying, contents manipulation, demolition. The majority of our production volume.
- Mold Remediation — containment, engineering controls, and remediation per IICRC S520.
- Crawl Space — vapor barrier, mold remediation, and water restoration.
Crew leadership:
- Run the day on assigned jobs — sequence the work, direct your technician, keep jobs moving.
- Make routine field calls per IICRC S500 and S520: equipment counts and placement, containment setup, drying progress.
- Escalate to the office on scope changes, structural concerns, customer issues, safety concerns, or anything outside the approved estimate.
- Route pricing, coverage, and billing questions to the office.
- Train and develop the technician assigned to your crew.
- Own the equipment on your truck — inventory, condition, what leaves and what returns.
- Set the standard on site: professional appearance, clean work areas, respectful conduct in occupied homes.
Documentation:
- Complete and accurate Encircle job files daily — moisture mapping, readings, photos, materials removed, equipment placement.
- Daily labor log filed for every day on every job, by job.
Field execution:
- Extraction, structural drying, equipment set and monitoring per S500.
- Demolition and debris removal — carpet, pad, tile, drywall, flooring, insulation.
- Containment construction, negative air, and remediation per S520.
- Contents manipulation — pack, relocate, protect.
- Vapor barrier installation and crawl space clean-out.
- Job site staging and end-of-job breakdown.
- Correct PPE for the category and environment, every time.
Emergency first response — earned, and paid for
Once you've demonstrated it, you'll join the rotation for first response on new water losses: arriving on site, taking initial moisture readings, assessing category and class, and securing the work authorization while the office handles customer onboarding and the insurance conversation.
You enter this rotation after riding along on a set number of first responses and being observed solo — not on a calendar date. First response carries a higher weekend stipend, and any hours worked are paid on top of it. It's the step up in the role, and it's compensated as one.
Weekend on-call rotation:
- Monitoring rotation — roughly one weekend a month. Moisture readings, equipment checks, adjustments, and pickups. Paid stipend per weekend.
- First-response rotation — after sign-off. New water losses during daytime weekend hours. Higher stipend per weekend.
Stipends are paid for carrying the weekend whether or not a call comes in. Hours actually worked are paid separately, with overtime when the week runs past 40.
Evening and overnight response is typically handled by the owner and estimator, not by technicians.
Requirements
- 3+ years verifiable combined experience in water restoration and/or mold remediation.
- IICRC WRT and ASD certifications, currently held.
- Demonstrated experience leading a crew or running jobs independently.
- Crawl space experience and willingness to work in confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record — you will operate a company vehicle.
- Comfortable working on carpet, hardwood, tile, and other water-damaged substrates.
- Proficient with hand and power tools.
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and perform sustained physical work in hot, wet, and confined environments.
- Reliable transportation to and from our office each day.
- Must be able to reach our office within 30 minutes. On-call response depends on it. Candidates within 10–15 minutes are strongly preferred.
Preferred: IICRC AMRT certification.
Compensation and benefits
- $70,000 base salary, with overtime paid when worked.
- Quarterly performance bonus up to $1,500 — scored on job efficiency, callback-free work, and equipment readiness. Not discretionary; you'll know exactly how it's measured. Total first-year earnings $76,000 at target.
- Defined path to $75,000 base — earned on the same scorecard, not a review conversation.
- Paid weekend on-call stipends — paid for carrying the weekend, separate from hours worked.
