Full Job Description

A Chapel Hill family of four is seeking an organized, proactive, and dependable Nanny/Household Manager to support their busy household and two independent middle- and high-school-aged boys. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing household management responsibilities with meaningful mentorship and support for older children.

The boys are active, engaged in numerous extracurricular activities, and generally independent. This role is less about hands-on childcare and more about helping them stay organized, accountable, and supported as they navigate school, activities, friendships, and growing responsibilities.

The family values kindness, respect, learning, open communication, and strong relationships. They are hoping to find someone interested in becoming a long-term part of their household and providing reliable support for years to come.

Responsibilities:

Household Management:

Create and help maintain a weekly meal plan
Follow recipes and prepare simple, healthy family dinners
Communicate grocery needs and meal suggestions to parents
Manage family laundry, including parents' laundry (excluding towels and linens)
Unload dishwasher and assist with light household tidying
Coordinate and manage family calendars, appointments, and activities
Handle household errands such as package returns and organizational projects
Assist with pantry organization and other periodic household management tasks
Oversee children's chore completion and provide support when needed
Identify household needs proactively and take initiative without requiring daily direction

Afterschool Support:

Transport children to and from school, sports, activities, and social commitments
Help children transition from school to homework and evening routines
Encourage healthy habits, responsibility, and balanced screen-time use
Offer guidance and support when children feel overwhelmed or need help creating a plan
Foster independence while remaining available for encouragement and accountability
Engage the children in meaningful conversation, games, sports, or activities when appropriate

Organized and detail-oriented
A proactive self-starter who naturally notices what needs to be done
Warm, nurturing, and genuinely interested in building relationships with older children
Skilled at balancing independence with support and guidance
Able to promote social-emotional growth and conflict resolution
Comfortable preparing family meals and following recipes
Interested in becoming a long-term part of the family's support system

Requirements:

Clean driving record and reliable vehicle for transportation
Dog-friendly and comfortable around one small family dog
COVID-19 vaccination required
CPR/First Aid certification preferred
