Why This Role Matters

LEMO U is a youth empowerment organization powered by athletics, community, and a surprisingly complex business model. Between programs, tournaments, facility rentals, memberships, and a related not-for-profit entity, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes—and the financial systems are ready for greater rigor and consistency.

This role is for someone who doesn’t just want to “do the accounting,” but wants to bring order, clarity, and confidence to it.

You’ll be the person who helps turn a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment into one with strong, reliable financial systems—without slowing it down.

What You’ll Own

You won’t be doing this alone—you’ll work under the guidance of both LEMO U’s CFO and our external CFO firm. But you will be the one making things happen day to day, owning:

The accuracy and integrity of day-to-day financial data
Invoicing and revenue tracking across multiple revenue streams
Consistent weekly payables process, ensuring vendors are paid accurately and on time
Ensuring coaches and staff are paid accurately and on time, every time
Ensuring the expense management system is consistently followed, including proper documentation, approvals, and adherence to established controls
Accurate Due to/Due from tracking between organizations
Maintaining clear understanding of cash flows including updating the cash flow forecasting tool
Preparing clean, accurate, and fully supported financial records in accordance with GAAP, ready for review and oversight by the external CFO firm
Act as a key partner in strengthening system functionality (including Daxko), identifying issues, and collaborating with the external CFO firm to improve how systems operate day to day

Where You’ll Make an Impact

Bring Structure to Complexity

Ensure every transaction is accurate, supported, and makes sense
Maintain clean, reliable data that supports decision-making
Participate in month-end close (journal entries, reconciliations) with CFO guidance

Build Systems That Actually Work

Help stabilize and optimize processes in Daxko and related systems
Identify what’s clunky, inconsistent, or risky—and fix it
Create clear, usable policies and procedures that people will actually follow

Strengthen the Backbone of the Organization

Embed practical internal controls into everyday workflows
Support accurate tracking of deferred revenue and revenue recognition
Help ensure the organization is GAAP-compliant and always ready for audit

Support Smarter Decisions

Contribute to the annual budget process
Dig into budget vs. actuals and help explain what’s really happening

Qualifications

4–7 years of accounting experience (nonprofit experience a plus)
Strong understanding of GAAP
Experience working in environments with multiple revenue streams or operational complexity
Demonstrated ability to improve systems, processes, or internal controls
Experience with QuickBooks Online
Strong Excel skills
Clear, practical communicator
