QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor of Science Degree preferred.
2. Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate in Vocational Technical (VT).
3. Interim Occupational Certificate or Occupational Education Certificate in
Automobile Technician (47.0604) or 4,000 hours of paid and relevant work
experience (in the last six years) to qualify for Annual Vocational
Authorization.
4. Must agree to maintain authorization through credit track maintenance.
5. NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation)
certification required.
6. Prior teaching experience in auto mechanics preferred.
7. Experience working with high school students is preferred.
8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may
find appropriate and acceptable.
9. Must be ASE certified master technician.
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
JOB GOAL: To teach high school students auto mechanic skills required in accordance with
the curriculum assigned.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times
designated.
2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective
learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
3. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation
upon request of immediate superior.
4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
and evaluate their progress on a regular basis.
5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media,
consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the
needs of the individuals or student groups involved.
6. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education
related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested
to do so under reasonable terms.
7. Organize and meet with the Automotive Advisory Board.
8. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with
students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and
behavioral progress of all assigned students.
