Full Job Description

Urban Manufacturing (est. 1978) is an industry leader in precision CNC contract machining and is still proudly family-owned and operated. We specialize in precision CNC machining, contract manufacturing, and engineered components. We serve highly critical, quality-sensitive industries, including aerospace, medical equipment, and power distribution.

We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Supply Chain Manager to oversee our materials, purchasing, and logistics functions across both local facilities.

Position Summary

The Supply Chain Manager will lead purchasing, materials planning, supplier management, inventory control, receiving, and shipping activities for both Urban and Oliver Manufacturing. This role is crucial to our operational success—ensuring production has the right materials at the right time, holding suppliers accountable, controlling material costs, and building reliable, data-driven inventory processes to support our customer delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, develop, and hold accountable a tight-knit team of Buyers, Planners, Schedulers, and Shipping/Receiving personnel. Establish clear daily priorities and robust follow-up routines.
Ensure seamless material flow to support fast-paced CNC machining and assembly operations, preventing production shortages and meeting customer lead times.
Monitor supplier quality, pricing, and responsiveness. Proactively escalate risks, negotiate favorable terms/pricing, and develop alternate sourcing and risk-mitigation strategies.
Maintain and optimize critical ERP/MRP planning parameters—including lead times, reorder points, safety stock, and part master data—to drive accurate automated planning.
Drive inventory accuracy through cycle count discipline, stockroom organization, and minimize excess or obsolete material.
Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Accounting to swiftly resolve any material, supplier, or delivery issues.
Develop and manage supply chain KPIs, providing leadership with clear visibility into supplier performance, inventory trends, cost savings, and supply risks.

Qualifications & Experience

7+ years of progressive purchasing, materials management, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
3+ years of direct experience managing buyers, planners, inventory, or shipping/receiving personnel.
Strong preference for experience in CNC machining, precision contract manufacturing, or related engineered component environments.
Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, with a proven ability to maintain and improve material planning assumptions and parameters.
Demonstrated experience managing inventory accuracy, cycle count programs, material flow, and shortage reduction.
Experience supporting aerospace, medical equipment, power distribution, or other highly regulated industries is a major plus.
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, or a related field (equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience will be fully considered).
APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) is a plus but not required.
