Job Summary
Our established optometry practice, now under new ownership!

Join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Front Office / Exam Technician in Training, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting clinical operations. This entry-level position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in optometry and medical office procedures while developing your skills in patient interaction, medical documentation, and exam assistance. As a key member of our healthcare team, you'll contribute to creating a welcoming environment for patients and assist with vital clinical tasks under supervision, paving the way for a rewarding career in eye care or medical administration.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with intake procedures to ensure smooth check-in experiences
Measure and record vital health history
Prepare exam rooms using aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment for patient examinations
Assist optometrist and technicians during eye exams by setting up equipment and ensuring proper operation of optical devices
Manage medical records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Support front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones, insurance verification and data entry
Maintain inventory of supplies related to patient exams and clinical procedures, ensuring readiness for daily operations

Requirements

Prior experience in a medical office setting or retail sales is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
Familiarity with EMR systems or similar platforms is advantageous
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing medical records and clinic documentation
Ability to handle sensitive patient information following HIPAA guidelines with integrity and discretion
Excellent communication skills bilingual English/Spanish to interact effectively with patients, team members, and healthcare professionals
Enthusiasm for learning about optometry, medical coding, billing processes, and clinic workflows
