Break Line Wealth + Tax | Scottsdale, AZ | Full-Time | On-Site
Break Line Wealth + Tax is a coordinated wealth and tax planning firm built to solve the “silo tax,” the hidden cost that piles up when investment, tax, estate, and business planning are handled by disconnected advisors who never talk to each other. We serve high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, entrepreneurs, real estate investors, and high-income professionals.
Our process, the Break Line Standard, follows four disciplined steps: Discovery, Design, Implementation, and Oversight to build strategies around each client’s goals and blind spots. Clients receive a single, integrated Break Line Blueprint that evolves as life, markets, and tax law change, supported by a vetted network of outside professionals we call the Break Line Collective. Our focus areas include wealth preservation, investment strategy, tax mitigation, real estate strategy, estate and wealth transfer coordination, asset protection planning, and charitable giving strategy. We also have a dedicated 1031 exchange strategy and mortgage team.
WHY BREAK LINE?
● A genuinely coordinated model. Most firms hand clients off between separate investment, tax, and estate advisors who rarely talk to each other, and clients absorb the cost of that disconnect. We built the Break Line Collective specifically to close that gap. Our team operates the same way internally: collaborative by design, not siloed.
● A real alternative to traditional advisory shops. If you’re capped at a big broker-dealer or bank platform delivering the same generic, product-driven advice to every client, this is a chance to practice coordinated, value-based planning that aligns wealth, investment, and tax strategy rather than treating them as separate conversations.
● Direct exposure to sophisticated planning. You’ll work directly with our Founder on high-net-worth client relationships and alongside CPAs, estate attorneys, and other specialists. This is not a role designed to keep an Associate permanently behind the scenes.
● AI-forward by design, not just in the back office. We use AI tools across planning, client communication, research, and day-to-day workflow, not just administrative tasks. If you already know how to direct an AI tool to produce clean, client-ready work and exercise the judgment to verify and improve that work, that’s a real advantage here.
● A team culture built on abundance, not competition. No eat-what-you-kill dynamics between advisors. Wins are shared, ideas are welcomed regardless of tenure, and collaboration is genuinely rewarded rather than just talked about.
● Real, capability-based growth. The goal of this role is not to remain in a permanent support position. As technical knowledge, judgment, licensing, and client-facing capabilities develop, the Associate Wealth Advisor will take on increasing ownership of planning engagements and client relationships, with the opportunity to grow into a trusted Wealth Advisor.
OUR TEAM
You’ll work directly with our Founder, an experienced wealth manager, in a hands-on, direct-report relationship rather than getting lost in a large team hierarchy. Break Line runs on a collaborative, team-based model through the Break Line Collective, where advisors, tax professionals, estate attorneys, and outside experts coordinate on client cases instead of working in isolation.
You’ll have exposure to the full planning process; from initial Discovery and financial analysis through strategy Design, Implementation, and ongoing Oversight.
WHO WE SERVE BEST
We work with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, entrepreneurs, real estate investors, and high-income professionals who want coordinated, value-based planning, not generic, product-driven advice.
Our clients often have complexity across investments, taxes, real estate, businesses, estate planning, and wealth transfer. Many have outgrown the one-size-fits-all model of traditional advisory firms and are looking for a team capable of seeing the entire financial picture rather than addressing each issue in isolation.
ROLE OVERVIEW
This is a full-time, on-site Associate Wealth Advisor role based in Scottsdale, AZ, working directly with our Founder in a direct-report, mentorship-style structure rather than a large team hierarchy.
The Associate Wealth Advisor is client-facing from day one and supports the delivery of coordinated wealth, investment, and tax planning through the Break Line Standard. You’ll participate in client meetings, analyze financial and investment information, assist in developing planning strategies, coordinate with outside professionals, and help move recommendations from strategy through implementation.
This role requires more than administrative execution. We’re looking for someone who wants to develop the technical knowledge, judgment, communication skills, and client presence required to eventually take greater ownership of client relationships.
Comfort directing AI tools to research, analyze, organize, and produce clean, client-ready work, while independently fact-checking and personalizing every output, is part of how this role actually operates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Support client Discovery and onboarding, gathering, organizing, and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, investment accounts, insurance policies, wills and trusts, business documents, real estate holdings, and other relevant planning information.
● Analyze client financial information, including tax returns, financial statements, investment reports, cash flow, and planning data to help identify opportunities, risks, gaps, and planning considerations for advisor review.
● Assist in designing integrated planning strategies aligned with the Break Line Standard, and help prepare Break Line Blueprints, plan summaries, presentations, recommendations, and client follow-up materials.
● Support investment and portfolio analysis, including reviewing asset allocation, investment holdings, risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and alignment between the client’s portfolio and broader financial, tax, and estate planning objectives.
● Prepare for and attend client meetings, documenting key discussions, recommendations, decisions, and action items while helping ensure commitments made to clients are followed through.
● Coordinate directly with CPAs, estate attorneys, insurance professionals, and other outside professionals on the Founder’s behalf, maintaining the warm, responsive, white-glove communication standard expected by Break Line clients.
● Support implementation of planning recommendations, coordinating internal and external action items and helping move strategies from recommendation to execution.
● Support ongoing Oversight of client plans, helping identify changes in a client’s circumstances, portfolio, tax situation, estate plan, or other areas that may require additional planning.
● Respond to client questions and requests in coordination with the Founder, helping manage client workflow, outstanding action items, deadlines, and follow-up.
● Maintain accurate and complete client records within the firm’s CRM, financial planning systems, and related technology platforms.
● Use AI tools across planning and workflow, including research, analysis, meeting preparation, client communication, and internal documentation, while independently fact-checking, refining, and personalizing every output before it reaches a client.
● Ensure client documentation, communications, and follow-up are completed accurately and in accordance with firm policies and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
● Take on increasing client-facing and advisory responsibility as technical knowledge, judgment, licensing, and capabilities develop, with the goal of progressively owning portions of planning engagements and client relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
● 1–3 years of experience in wealth management, financial planning, investment management, or a related financial services field preferred.
● Foundational knowledge of personal finance, investments, portfolio management, tax concepts, and estate planning.
● Series 65/66 and Series 7 required within 6 months of hire; Life & Health insurance license required by the 1-year anniversary, with applicable licensing costs reimbursed by the firm.
● Progress toward CFP®, CPA, EA, or another relevant professional designation is a plus.
● Alternative investment experience, including private equity, private credit, real estate syndications, structured products, and similar investments - is a valuable plus, though not required.
● Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret tax returns, financial statements, investment reports, portfolio information, and other complex financial documents.
● Understanding of investment concepts including asset allocation, risk tolerance, portfolio construction, and investment management.
● Familiarity with estate planning concepts and documents, including wills and trusts, and an understanding of how estate planning intersects with broader wealth and tax strategy.
● Proficiency with financial planning and productivity tools, including Excel, CRM systems, and financial planning or tax software, with demonstrated comfort learning new technology.
● Comfort using AI tools as part of professional workflow, combined with the judgment to verify outputs, protect confidential information, and ensure work is accurate and appropriate before use.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to understand complex financial concepts and explain them clearly.
● Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client priorities, deadlines, and action items while maintaining accurate documentation.
● Client-service orientation, with the interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to build trust with sophisticated clients and outside professionals.
● Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and commitment to regulatory and ethical standards when handling sensitive client and financial information.
● Collaborative, proactive, intellectually curious, and service-oriented; a genuine fit with a team culture built on abundance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
COMPENSATION
● Compensation includes a base salary plus a performance-based incentive bonus, not a commission structure, keeping incentives aligned with client-first planning.
● Associate Wealth Advisors have the opportunity to take on increasing planning, client-facing, and advisory responsibility as technical capabilities, judgment, and licensing develop.
● This role is designed for someone who wants to develop into a trusted Wealth Advisor. Progression is capability-based rather than tenure-based, and we're glad to walk through what that can look like during the interview process.
