Full Job Description

An established Dallas-based distribution and transportation company is seeking an experienced Bilingual Freight & Transportation Manager to oversee day-to-day freight operations, carrier sourcing, billing, documentation, and transportation coordination.

This is a hands-on position for someone who understands freight, communicates extremely well, stays organized, follows through, and wants the opportunity to grow with a transportation operation.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, technologically capable, easy to work with, financially responsible, and comfortable taking ownership of freight from initial booking through delivery, billing, and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily freight and transportation operations
Source, negotiate with, and manage motor carriers and freight brokers
Develop dependable carrier relationships
Maintain backup carrier capacity
Coordinate FTL, LTL, refrigerated, and multi-stop shipments
Monitor pickups, deliveries, tracking, and service exceptions
Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, warehouse teams, and management
Obtain and maintain BOLs, PODs, rate confirmations, carrier invoices, and related documentation
Ensure completed freight is billed promptly and accurately
Reconcile customer freight revenue against carrier costs and other transportation expenses
Track outstanding freight receivables and payables
Maintain clear load-level profitability records
Resolve transportation problems quickly and professionally
Negotiate competitive carrier rates while maintaining strong relationships
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
Help develop and grow additional profitable freight business
Provide management with accurate operational and financial reporting
Follow established approval procedures for significant financial or operational commitments

Required Qualifications

Professionally fluent in both English and Spanish
2+ years of transportation, trucking, freight brokerage, carrier sales, dispatch, or logistics experience preferred
Hands-on experience sourcing and negotiating with carriers
Strong understanding of trucking and freight operations
Experience with FTL transportation
LTL experience preferred
Refrigerated or temperature-controlled freight experience preferred
Experience with DAT, Truckstop, or comparable load-board platforms strongly preferred
Strong computer and technology skills
Comfortable working with Excel or Google Sheets
Comfortable learning and working in multiple software systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and follow-through skills
Ability to work independently and solve problems
High level of personal integrity and accountability

Compensation & Growth

The position begins with a 6-week paid training period at a $50,000 annualized salary.

After successful completion of training, compensation will transition to a base salary plus performance-based commission structure.

Expected total annual compensation is approximately $55,000–$90,000+, depending on performance, freight profitability, and growth of the transportation operation.

There is no fixed cap on commission earnings. Strong performers who successfully develop profitable freight business, improve transportation profitability, and take on greater responsibility may earn above this range.

Commission opportunities will be based primarily on profitable growth and performance rather than freight revenue alone.

This is intended to be a growth opportunity for someone who wants to build a larger, successful transportation operation and be financially rewarded as the business expands.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, in-person position in Dallas, Texas.

The role requires someone who can work effectively in a fast-moving environment, communicate with multiple parties throughout the day, solve problems as they arise, and maintain accurate financial and operational records.
