Full Job Description

Overview
Survivors Pathway is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families impacted by crime and victimization. We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and mission-driven Victim Advocate to provide comprehensive support to survivors experiencing trauma, violence, and abuse. In this role, the Victim Advocate will assist clients during crisis situations, provide emotional support, and help them navigate complex systems such as the criminal justice process, including obtaining restraining orders and accessing victim rights. The advocate will also connect clients to essential services and community resources, including mental health care, legal assistance, housing, food, and other supportive services. The ideal candidate will have experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or other forms of victimization, as well as a strong foundation in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care. This position plays a critical role in promoting safety, healing, and empowerment for vulnerable populations, particularly children and families facing challenging and often life-altering circumstances.

Duties

Provide immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to victims of abuse, violence, or trauma.
Assist clients in understanding their rights and navigating complex systems such as child welfare and family law.
Collaborate with social workers, legal professionals, and community organizations to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
Advocate for clients’ needs during court proceedings or child protective services investigations.
Offer guidance on behavioral health resources and behavioral management strategies.
Conduct assessments to determine safety risks and develop safety plans with clients.
Maintain detailed documentation of interactions, interventions, and referrals in compliance with agency policies.
Educate clients about available services, rights, and options for recovery and protection.

Experience & Qualifications

Minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in victim advocacy involving criminal and civil court matters, including direct client support throughout the court process.
Demonstrated experience providing court-related advocacy, such as assisting clients with filing police reports, obtaining restraining orders or injunctions, accompanying clients to court, and coordinating with law enforcement, prosecutors, or legal service providers.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or a related field is required, with a strong emphasis or background in criminal advocacy or victim services.
Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, child abuse, or other violent crimes preferred.
Strong knowledge of victims’ rights, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and safety planning.
Proven ability to work with diverse and vulnerable populations, including children and families, while demonstrating cultural competence, empathy, and professionalism.
Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage sensitive information confidentially and accurately.
