Full Job Description

JOB TITLE: QUALITY IMPROVEMENT COORDINATOR

SUPERVISED BY: DIRECTOR OF QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

DEPARTMENT: QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Quality Improvement (QI) Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director QI, QI
Manager, and QI Project Data Manager in implementation of performance improvement activities. Duties performed place emphasis on being able to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of performance improvement activities at committees, department levels, or as assigned.

EXAMPLE OF ACTUAL FUNCTIONS:
(Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of specific statements does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.)

1. Develop and maintain positive and responsive relationships with other FCN department staff, as well as with the FCMA and QA leadership from outside agencies, (i.e. DCF,
Court, FCMA etc.).

2. Work collaboratively with staff within FCN’s QI Department.

3. Participate in FCN committee meetings, representing QI Department, as assigned.

4. Assist the Director QI and QI Managers in implementing proper data collecting and analyzing procedures in identified projects.

5. Assist in providing training in QI principles and methodology to FCN staff as well as to the Full Case Management agencies, as assigned.

6. Assist in collecting and reviewing QI performance measures data, procedures, and data- collection methods.

7. Conducts specialized quality and performance reviews, as assigned.

8. Participate in workflow meetings and analysis, identifying areas needing improvement and developing and tracking plans of action, as assigned.

9. Participate in quality improvement team meetings and committee meetings, as assigned.

10. Assist QI Department in maintaining documentation, as required by Department of Children and Families.

11. Communicates and reports significant findings to the Director of QI in a timely manner.

12. Must comply with requirements for FSFN documentation, as applicable.

13. Perform other duties, as necessary, assigned, or as outlined in the attached addendum.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field with a minimum of five years of supervisory job-related experience with preferred focus on Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement within Social Services/Child
Welfare.

2. Eligible or currently certified as a Child Welfare Case Manager or Child Investigator, preferred.

3. Proficiency in the use of computers, email and word processing software.

4. Able to travel minimally within and throughout Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, as assigned.

5. Available for emergency consultations after hours and on weekend.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

1. Knowledge of another language helpful, Spanish preferred.

4. Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and effectively work with multi-disciplinary team members.

5. Attend mandatory in-service trainings within expected dates as defined by FCN policies and procedures.

6. Have thorough understanding of quality improvement principles and terminology and utilizes this language/terminology in communicating pertinent information to FCN staff members/ supervisors and within documentation.

7. Demonstrates ability to apply quality improvement principles, processes, and practices.

8. Expert knowledge of the child welfare system to include the practice model and user systems

9. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of FCN and DCF’s operating procedures.

10. Adheres to all applicable policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

11. Have thorough understanding of records management procedures

12. Ability to provide effective quality representation during interactions with outside partners, including business partners as well as governmental and regulatory agencies.

13. Demonstrates strong customer service skills by maintaining a positive and responsive relationship with other FCN department staff, as well as with outside agencies (i.e., DCF,
DJJ, Court, etc.).

14. Demonstrates superior written and verbal communication skills.

15. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills.

16. Ability to efficiently and accurately analyze and audit complex information.

17. Ability to perform all job duties in compliance with HIPAA guidelines, and FCN confidentiality policies.

18. Demonstrates problem-solving skills.

19. Has knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.

20. Ability to multitask effectively while performing job duties.

21. Ability of prioritizing and managing tasks, as assigned.

22. Ability to work independently.
