Post-Adoption Resource Centers (PARCs) assist adoptive and guardianship families by providing adoption-sensitive services and support. Services include case management, phone and email assistance, and referrals to community resources and providers. PARCs also provide support groups, training, and conferences for families.

Job Summary

The PARC Family Worker provides support to adoptive and guardianship families in need of general assistance as well as those requiring more intensive services to promote family stability and preserve adoptions. Many families have adopted youth from foster care. The worker provides support to the families, completes assessments, identifies community resources and service providers, and submits required documentation.

This position primarily serves families on the western side of our contracted service area, including the following counties: Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Eaton, Kalamazoo, and St. Joseph. Depending on program needs, the worker may be asked to assist families in our eastern counties at times: Washtenaw, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, and Monroe. There is also a monthly team meeting day in Ann Arbor. Mileage and monthly cell phone reimbursements are provided.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Answer questions and address families’ needs
Maintain regular contact with families, including home visits for select cases
Provide interventions for families in crisis or at risk of disruption
Refer adoptive families to appropriate community resources and services
Provide educational materials and support information
Complete documentation and reporting in a timely manner
Participate in required training
Attend scheduled meetings
Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Experience working with adoptive and foster parents is highly preferred
Experience providing in-home services and/or working directly with children and families in child welfare or mental health is highly preferred
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work preferred
Understanding of family basic needs and social, cultural, and religious differences is required
Ability to provide culturally responsive services that demonstrate sensitivity to the population served
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations
Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field is required
Valid Michigan driver’s license, appropriate auto insurance, and use of own vehicle are required

Working Conditions

Remote position with travel to families’ homes
Work occurs in both home office and community settings
May involve working with families in crisis situations
Non-traditional hours may be required, including evening home visits and occasional evening or weekend events and training
Supportive, team-oriented work environment
