Are you ready to kickstart your culinary career and master new skills? LUX Events is on the hunt for passionate individuals eager to dive into the world of professional cooking! As a Prep Cook, you'll gain invaluable hands-on kitchen experience under the mentorship of seasoned chefs. You'll play a vital role in supporting daily kitchen operations, learning the ins and outs of professional cooking, and upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.

Gains a fundamental understanding of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), the "eyes on" monitoring process, and the intricacies of expediting during events.
Develops and applies basic knife and kitchen skills essential for food preparation and production.
Ensures the cleanliness of the kitchen and workstations, adhering to health code standards to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Assists with mise en place and supports senior cooks with various tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Maintains orderliness in the walk-in cooler and freezer areas, helps with inventory management, and participates in opening and closing procedures.

Responsibilities:

Engages in basic food production and stewardship to support kitchen operations.
Meets deadlines for delegated tasks, showing diligence and time-management skills.
Collaborates effectively with senior cooks and the rest of the culinary team.
Contributes to the organization and large-scale production efforts of the kitchen.
Assists in the care and maintenance of basic kitchen equipment to ensure longevity and reliability.

Qualifications:

Six months to one year of experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not mandatory; candidates without prior experience but with a willingness to learn will be considered.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs.
Basic knowledge of knife skills is preferred, showcasing a readiness to engage in food preparation tasks.
Demonstrates the ability to take direction, adapt to changes in the kitchen environment, and integrate feedback for continuous improvement.
Possesses basic organizational skills, essential for maintaining an efficient and productive kitchen workspace.
