Job Description:
The Assistant Principal of Culture is a key member of the School Leadership Team who helps create and maintain a safe, joyful, structured, and mission-aligned school culture. This role leads systems related to student behavior, discipline, attendance, family engagement, student support, and school-wide programming.
Position Responsibilities
Culture Leadership Responsibilities
● Set and support school-wide culture goals with the Principal.
● Serve as the main contact for student discipline and culture concerns.
● Create and monitor student behavior and support plans.
● Coach teachers in classroom culture, behavior systems, and student support.
● Lead teacher development through observations, walk-throughs, modeling, data analysis, and co-teaching as needed.
● Partner with the School Social Worker to support students and families.
● Remain visible and present throughout the school day.
● Promote Nativity’s mission and values.
● Complete other duties as assigned.
Parent Engagement & Family Partnership
● Lead parent engagement efforts with support from the Principal and leadership team.
● Create opportunities for families to participate in school life.
● Strengthen communication, trust, and shared responsibility with families.
● Support teachers in building strong parent partnerships.
● Communicate with families about behavior, attendance, discipline, and support.
● Attend family events and conduct home visits as needed.
School Systems and Operations
● Lead school-wide systems for arrival, dismissal, transitions, incentives, recess, lunch, assemblies, and expectations.
● Maintain student culture data and discipline/student support records.
● Lead professional development related to culture, behavior, and school systems.
● Manage attendance systems with the School Social Worker and Office Manager.
● Partner with operations and office staff to support student safety.
Restorative Practices & Student Support
● Facilitate restorative conversations, mediation, and conflict resolution.
● Help students build accountability, empathy, communication, and problem-solving skills.
● Partner with Student Services to support student needs.
● Identify behavior patterns and develop proactive supports.
● Balance student support with accountability.
School-Wide Responsibilities
● Strengthen school culture, safety, belonging, and joy.
● Lead student incentives and recognition programs.
● Coordinate community partnerships.
● Lead or support student activities, assemblies, Aftercare, study hall, clubs, field trips, athletics, and school-wide events.
● Serve on the Ministry Team and support Masses, prayer services, retreats, and faith-based events.
● Support recruitment and hiring efforts.
Mercer, WI Summer Campus
● Visit the Mercer campus and participate in key student programming.
● Strengthen connections between Milwaukee and Mercer.
● Support summer programming with the Principal and Director of Camp Thunderhead.
● Promote Catholic faith, Jesuit values, and Nativity’s mission.
● Help students understand what it means to be men and women for and with others.
● Model professionalism, service, compassion, and integrity.
● Support student formation through prayer, service, leadership, and community.

Position Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
● At least three years of classroom teaching experience is required.
● Assistant Principal or school leadership experience preferred.
● DPI Principal license required or working toward completion.
● Experience with school databases and systems such as PowerSchool, Google Workspace, and related platforms preferred.
● Commitment to Catholic education, Jesuit values, and NJA’s mission
● Spanish-speaking or bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
