Overview

Join our dynamic finance team as an Inventory Control/Cost Accountant and play a vital role in optimizing inventory management, cost analysis, and financial reporting. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge accounting systems, analyze complex data, and contribute to the financial health of a thriving manufacturing organization. You will be instrumental in ensuring accurate inventory valuation, cost control, and compliance with financial standards, all while supporting strategic decision-making through detailed financial analysis.

Responsibilities

Manage inventory control processes by conducting regular cycle counts, reconciliations, and audits to ensure accuracy across all inventory records.
Perform detailed cost accounting analysis to identify variances, monitor cost trends, and recommend improvements for cost efficiency.
Utilize ERP systems such as SAP, Sage, Xero, and other financial software to record transactions, update inventory data, and generate reports.
Prepare comprehensive financial reports including cost reports, balance sheets, and income statements aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Conduct cash flow analysis and assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support strategic planning initiatives.
Reconcile general ledger accounts related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS), ensuring accuracy through account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation.
Support SOX compliance by maintaining internal controls over inventory and financial processes while assisting with audit preparations and documentation.

Requirements

Proven accounting experience within the manufacturing industry or similar production environments.
Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and cost management principles.
Proficiency in accounting systems such as SAP, QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, and ERP platforms; experience with business intelligence tools is a plus.
Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, Excel data analysis, spreadsheets management, and data collection techniques.
Familiarity with GAAP standards and technical accounting practices related to inventory valuation and cost accounting.
Excellent data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information for decision-making purposes.
Experience with public accounting or corporate finance roles involving SOX compliance, forecasting models, and financial analysis is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for account reconciliation, account analysis, payroll processing, and general ledger management.
