Full Job Description

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of various components needed for use within Herker Industries. The Buyer will handle procuring items submitted on purchase requisitions from the plant floor, issuing RFQs(Request For Quote) to suppliers, resolving incoming material discrepancy’s from suppliers, issuing claims for damaged product with LTL carriers and UPS. Other functions may include monitoring of inventory levels, prepares reports and forecasts for future material needs, researches, identifies and recommends potential suppliers and other Purchasing duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Issues Purchase Orders to suppliers for materials needed for the production floor and for customer orders.
Run daily reports that verify all issued POs have been received and confirmed by suppliers. Follow up with suppliers who have not confirmed they are in receipt of our POs.
Run and manage daily reports the confirm POs have been delivered on time. Follow up with suppliers whose orders have not come in by their promised delivery date.
Purchase specialty non-inventoried items for customer orders that come in daily.
Look for opportunities to save the company money through purchased items and freight.
Purchase MRO items for the plant and office use.
Follow up with suppliers on delivery or invoice discrepancies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management. CPIM or CSCP certification is highly recommended but bot required. At least one year of experience in a purchasing or sourcing role. Experience with sourcing commodities such as steel is highly recommended but not required.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
