Program Structure: Future Of Us’s program structure allows each staff to thrive in their roles & responsibilities. There is a team of 2 Directors–Program and Senior Director of Organizing, 3 Managers-Campaign, Advocacy & Policy and Organizing, 4 Ambassadors and a team of Volunteer Canvassers. Within the leadership roles, while both Director roles provide strategic leadership within the Program Department and share accountability for advancing Future of Us’ mission, they operate at different levels of strategy, oversight, and implementation. The Senior Director of Organizing and Program Director operate in partnership, but with distinct responsibilities:
- The Senior Director of Organizing works in partnership with the Program Director to set the strategic direction, organizing framework, department standards, and long-term vision.
- The Program Director works in partnership with the Senior Director of Organizing to strategize and operationalize that vision through staff management, implementation, execution, and accountability.
In practice:
- The Senior Director of Organizing determines in partnership with the Program Director’s leadership what the department is building toward and how organizing is practiced organizationally.
- The Program Director informs and influences the Senior Director of Organizing of the implementation; and ensures the team successfully carries out the work and achieves the goals and outcomes.
Together, these roles create a balance between strategic leadership and disciplined execution, ensuring Future of Us can sustainably grow its organizing infrastructure while developing strong staff leadership and impactful community programs.
Position Summary The Program Director is an implementation and people-management leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution, accountability, and evaluation of Future of Us’ programs and community campaign initiatives. This role ensures that organizational strategy is translated into actionable workplans, measurable outcomes, and effective staff management practices.
The Program Director directly supervises 3 program staff and is responsible for cultivating a strong team culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, leadership development, and continuous growth. This role focuses on workforce development by coaching staff in project management, decision-making, communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Organizing, the Program Director oversees program implementation across community engagement, advocacy campaigns, leadership development, and organizing initiatives. The Program Director works closely with the Senior Director of Organizing to operationalize organizing strategy and ensure staff are supported in achieving departmental and organizational goals.
This position requires strong people management, operational leadership, strategic execution, and a commitment to youth empowerment, civic engagement, and community-building within Asian American communities.
Salary & Benefits This is a full-time 40 hours/week, exempt, in-person position with some evenings and weekends required. Salary is $65,280 - $74,460 based on experience. Future Of Us upholds pay equity and economic justice through transparent compensation practices, cost-of-living adjustments every two years, and annual raises of 1–3% based on performance and budget. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesStrategic Program Implementation & Management
- Lead the day-to-day implementation of organizational programs, campaigns, and community engagement initiatives.
- Translate department strategy into actionable workplans, implementation timelines, and measurable outcomes.
- Ensure programs and campaigns are executed effectively, consistently, and in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Monitor program progress and ensure accountability to deliverables, timelines, and performance benchmarks.
- Coordinate cross-program implementation efforts to support department alignment and operational efficiency.
- Ensure program implementation adheres to nonpartisan compliance standards and organizational practices.
Staff Supervision & Workforce Development
- Supervise and support program staff through regular coaching, performance management, and accountability systems.
- Develop staff leadership competencies including project management, strategic thinking, communication, planning, and decision-making.
- Establish clear expectations, goals, and work plans for staff and hold team members accountable to outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative, equitable, and growth-oriented team culture grounded in shared accountability.
- Support staff professional development and leadership growth opportunities.
Program Evaluation & Accountability
- Track and evaluate programmatic progress toward established goals and metrics.
- Support the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to assess program effectiveness.
- Prepare program updates, impact reports, and implementation evaluations for leadership and stakeholders.
- Integrate community feedback and staff learning into ongoing program improvement efforts.
Department Operations & Coordination
- Support operational coordination within the Program Department, including scheduling, planning systems, and implementation workflows.
- Ensure alignment between daily operations, program priorities, and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Organizing to strengthen program systems, implementation practices, and team effectiveness.
Must haves for the position Demonstrated commitment to racial equity, youth empowerment, and social justice. Proven experience in program curriculum design, management, community organizing, advocacy, or related fields. Strong leadership skills with experience managing and coaching teams and fostering collaborative work environments. Ability to design, implement, and evaluate programs with measurable impact. Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to balance vision with operational execution. Familiarity with data management, evaluation tools, and participatory research methods.
