Full Job Description

Learning Designs is seeking an exceptional educator to provide intensive one-to-one support for two sisters with unique learning needs.

The primary student is entering middle school and presents with ADHD, significant executive functioning challenges, and learning differences impacting reading, writing, math, organization, working memory, task initiation, attention, and independent academic performance.

The position also includes providing individualized academic support to her elementary-aged sister. While each student has different learning needs, both benefit from structured, relationship-based instruction and consistent support.

This position is ideal for a special educator, learning specialist, interventionist, educational therapist, or highly experienced academic coach with a strong background in executive functioning and learning differences.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will provide intensive academic and executive functioning support five days per week through individualized one-to-one instruction. This role extends far beyond traditional tutoring and requires someone who can simultaneously address academic skill development, executive functioning deficits, confidence building, and student engagement.

The older student is capable, personable, and creative but requires significant scaffolding, structure, accountability, and support to successfully access and demonstrate her abilities. Her younger sister benefits from engaging, individualized instruction designed to strengthen foundational academic skills while building confidence and independence.

Required Experience

Strong background in executive functioning coaching and intervention
Experience supporting students with ADHD
Experience working with students with learning differences
Ability to identify skill gaps and adjust instruction accordingly
Strong understanding of scaffolding and gradual release of responsibility
Experience building student confidence and independence
Ability to collaborate with families and provide regular feedback

Preferred Experience

Special education teaching experience
Learning specialist experience
Educational therapy background
Reading, writing, and math intervention experience
Experience supporting both elementary and middle school students
Familiarity with working memory challenges, task initiation difficulties, and organizational deficits

Responsibilities

Provide individualized instruction in reading, writing, and math
Embed executive functioning coaching into all academic work
Teach organization, planning, task initiation, self-monitoring, and study strategies
Scaffold instruction while maintaining high expectations
Develop engaging lessons that provide the repetition and reinforcement necessary for mastery
Monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed
Collaborate with Learning Designs and the students' family regarding progress and next steps
