Full Job Description

Church Financial Secretary

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Financial Secretary to support the financial stewardship and ministry operations of our church. This individual will be responsible for receiving, recording, reconciling, and depositing church contributions while maintaining accurate financial records and strict confidentiality.

The Financial Secretary works closely with the Treasurer, Finance Committee, church leadership, and staff to ensure financial transactions are handled accurately, timely, and in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role plays a vital part in supporting the church's mission through faithful financial management and responsible stewardship of resources.

Key Responsibilities

Receive, record, and deposit church offerings, donations, and electronic contributions.
Maintain detailed and accurate giving records while ensuring donor confidentiality.
Coordinate the counting and reconciliation of offerings in accordance with internal controls and financial policies.
Prepare financial reports for church leadership and the Finance Committee.
Assist in maintaining financial records and documentation for audits and compliance purposes.
Work collaboratively with church leadership to support financial planning, stewardship, and ministry goals.
Evaluate and improve financial recordkeeping processes and procedures.
Special projects as determined by the Finance Committee.

Qualifications

Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, financial recordkeeping, or related administrative work preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
Proficiency with basic financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with ShelbyNext church management system or Quickbooks is preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Commitment to supporting the mission and values of the church.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
