Full Job Description

The Development Director/Manager will lead and execute the fundraising strategy for the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX). Reporting directly to the President + CEO, this position is responsible for cultivating relationships with donors, securing major gifts, and overseeing all aspects of fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for arts and culture and a proven track record of driving revenue growth in nonprofit organizations.

Essential Duties

Fundraising Strategy & Execution

Develop and implement a comprehensive development plan to meet annual revenue goals, with input from MAX leadership team.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with and gifts from individual donors, corporate sponsors, government, and foundation sources.
Develop and manage planned giving and endowment strategies.

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship

Work directly with The MAX president and CEO, leveraging their relationships and best use of their time to be most effective in the fundraising process.
Provide direction and management for the The MAX’s membership program, ensuring regular, meaningful donor engagement.
Develop tailored donor strategies, proposals and stewardship reports.
Plan and coordinate board and volunteer solicitations and donor outreach.

Grant Writing & Reporting

Identify and apply for relevant grants from private foundations and government agencies.
Track and report grant activities, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.

Special Events Management

Plan and lead fundraising events, working closely with staff and empowering volunteers.
Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events and maximize participation.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Collaborate with the President + CEO, board members, and staff to align fundraising goals with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.
Manage and mentor staff and volunteers involved in fund development.
Create tools to empower and facilitate solicitation by board, staff, and volunteers.

Data Management & Reporting

Maintain donor database to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
Track and analyze fundraising metrics to evaluate progress and inform future strategies.

Schedule and Mode
The position is full-time, in-person, based at The MAX in downtown Meridian. As a community hub, The MAX regularly has events and programs on nights and weekends that the fund development director/manager will be asked to attend and support, particularly those that attract current and prospective donors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Arts Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably in the arts or cultural sector. This can include focused volunteer service.
Proven track record of securing major gifts and meeting/exceeding fundraising goals.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with donors, board members, and staff.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with donor database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, DonorPerfect, Versai).
Knowledge of the philanthropic community and trends in fundraising, particularly in arts and education.
Passion for the arts and the mission of The MAX.

Compensation
Depending upon experience, the salary range is $70-90k. Full-time, exempt positions at The MAX receive a competitive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, cell phone stipend, and optional retirement plan—flexible incentive options to be developed.
