Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Pharmacist in Charge to lead our pharmacy operations with professionalism, expertise, and a commitment to exceptional patient care. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily pharmacy functions, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, and maintaining the highest levels of medication safety and accuracy. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience, strong leadership skills, and a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy laws and regulations. As the Pharmacist in Charge, you will play a vital role in fostering a patient-centered environment while managing pharmacy teams and ensuring seamless service delivery across diverse healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient service.
Oversee medication dispensing processes, including compounding medications and preparing IV infusions using aseptic techniques.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws, including USP 797 standards for sterile compounding.
Conduct patient assessments to optimize medication therapy management and provide clinical consultations.
Manage inventory control, including procurement, storage, and regulatory tracking of pharmaceuticals.
Maintain accurate documentation in Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR), and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
Ensure adherence to healthcare compliance policies such as HIPAA and clinical confidentiality protocols.
Facilitate immunization services and participate in patient education initiatives.
Monitor pharmacy operations for regulatory compliance related to drug regulation and pharmaceutical standards.
Support acute care initiatives, pain management protocols, and LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy services.
Implement quality assurance measures to uphold safety standards such as USP 797 for sterile preparations.
Lead efforts in staff training on pharmacy software, drug regulation updates, and new clinical practices.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care plans through medical management expertise.

Qualifications

Valid pharmacist license in good standing with relevant state and federal licensing boards.
Extensive experience practicing as a licensed pharmacist within hospital or clinical settings.
Proven leadership experience managing pharmacy teams effectively across diverse healthcare environments.
Critical care experience with a strong background in patient assessment and medication management.
Pharmacy residency completion or equivalent advanced clinical training preferred.
Proficiency with pharmacy software systems
Strong understanding of healthcare compliance regulations such as HIPAA, drug regulation laws, and pharmaceutical standards.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in immunizations or pain management are advantageous.
Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence

Pay: $58.00 - $65.00 per hour
