DEFINITION:
Performs professional pharmacist duties at Partnership Health Center (PHC), as defined by the Statutes and Rules Regulating the Practice of Pharmacy in Montana.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE: Extensive knowledge of community and health-system pharmacy law. Extensive knowledge of drug information and therapeutics, as is appropriate for practicing pharmacists. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of HIPAA compliance. Working knowledge of the PHC Corporate Compliance Guidelines.
SKILLS: Skill in the use of pharmacy software and pharmacy-related office equipment. Skill in the use of a personal computer and related software. Skill in chart documentation.
ABILITIES: Ability to work independently and without supervision. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate both clinical and retail pharmacy services. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups, including counseling of patients. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, orally and in writing. Ability to teach patients, clinicians, and students.
EDUCATION: Requires a degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy in Pharmacy, B. Pharmacy, or Pharm. D.
EXPERIENCE: None required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Current license to practice pharmacy in the state of Montana is required with full prescriptive authority with no history of licensure suspension or disciplinary action. Must be eligible for malpractice/liability coverage. This position requires immunizations or proof of immunity to certain infectious diseases and a TB test. Healthcare Professional BLS Certification is required within 90 days of employment. New employees will be asked to volunteer vaccination status for required vaccines upon hire and will be offered assistance during hiring to receive necessary immunizations. Employees who have not received the vaccines required for their positions or who are unwilling to voluntarily provide vaccination status for required vaccines will receive a reasonable accommodation where such accommodation does not require an undue hardship or endanger the health or safely of any person. Subject to a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Maintains pharmacy and pharmacy operations in the PHC clinical and retail pharmacies in compliance with Montana State Board of Pharmacy and Federal Drug Enforcement Agency standards. Follows ASHP and APhA guidelines, as appropriate.
Provides oral and written drug information to patients and PHC clinicians and medical staff upon request. Counsels patients on all medications dispensed.
Performs INR’s, diabetes education, spirometry, blood pressure and cholesterol clinics.
Documents medication related information accurately and thoroughly in the patient health-record, according to PHC policy and professional standards. Reviews patient health records and lab results as needed.
Authorizes prescription refills for PHC clients, as outlined in the prescription refill authorization protocol.
OTHER DUTIES:
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
Works primarily in the clinic pharmacy setting. Requires occasional physical exertion such as bending, lifting (25-40 lbs.), standing for extended periods, and walking. May involve exposure to hazardous substances including therapeutic agents and exposure to sick and possibly contagious individuals. This role may require evening and weekend hours, participation in on-call coverage, and Saturday clinic shifts. Travel to affiliated satellite locations may also be necessary. This position is not eligible for remote work.
