Full Job Description

The Town of Alberton is accepting applications for the position of a Town Clerk/Treasurer. The position provides financial, budgetary, and record keeping functions.

Prepares annual reports such as the budget report to the state, the annual financial report, helps the mayor prepare the town budget, and handles zoning permits/ordinances.

Attends council meetings and prepares minutes. Oversees procedures for compliance with MCA.

Requires knowledge of governmental and payroll (BMS). Must be able to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, handle utility billing, monitor all financial activities, analyze government documents, supervises town employees, and work in stressful situations. Experience in fiscal management of a town, budgeting, and use of Black Mountain Software is a plus, but not required.

Additionally, the clerk will be posting articles and legal notices on our website (Wordpress platform) and will be required to maintain its accuracy.

Hours Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, plus additional hours as needed to make bank deposits, attend town council meetings, and complete projects as needed.
