Our Furniture Division is growing rapidly, evolving boldly, and redefining what it means to deliver vibrant solutions for work and learning environments across Missouri. We're building a collaborative, high-trust, forward-thinking team, and we're looking for a Furniture Business Development & Account Manager who is excited to help shape the future of our Columbia and Mid-Missouri market.
This role is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who thrives on creating opportunities, building relationships, and delivering meaningful solutions. You'll be responsible for growing an established portfolio of furniture customers while developing new business through strategic outreach, networking, referrals, and relationship building. Success in this role comes from balancing business development with exceptional account management, creating long-term partnerships that drive sustainable growth. You will serve as a trusted advisor, helping customers navigate workplace challenges and create environments that support their people and organizational goals.
This position is based in our Columbia office. While much of your time will be spent meeting with customers, prospects, designers, owners' representatives, and community partners throughout the market, team members are expected to work from the Columbia office when not visiting customers.

Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Customer Relationships
Develop new furniture business opportunities throughout the Columbia and Mid-Missouri market through strategic prospecting, networking, referrals, and relationship building.
Grow and strengthen an established portfolio of furniture customers while identifying opportunities to expand each relationship.
Serve as the primary relationship owner for both existing customers and newly developed accounts.
Conduct consultative discovery meetings to understand customer goals, workplace challenges, project timelines, budgets, and long-term objectives.
Build meaningful relationships with architects, designers, owner's representatives, facility leaders, and other influencers who help shape furniture purchasing decisions.
Lead customer presentations, showroom tours, product demonstrations, and solution discussions.
Collaborate with designers, pricing specialists, project managers, manufacturers, and leadership to develop creative, functional, and budget-conscious furniture solutions.
Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and recommendations that align with customer goals, budgets, and timelines.
Maintain consistent communication throughout the sales process while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Represent Office Essentials throughout the Columbia and Mid-Missouri market while strengthening brand awareness and identifying new opportunities for growth.
2. Sales Performance & Accountability
Achieve annual sales, gross profit, and business development goals.
Maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities through disciplined prospecting, relationship development, and consistent follow-up.
Balance new business development with the continued growth and retention of existing customer relationships.
Maintain accurate forecasting, CRM activity, and opportunity management to support business planning.
Demonstrate accountability for individual performance while contributing to the overall success of the Furniture Division.
Continuously identify opportunities to expand Office Essentials' presence across all market segments and customer verticals.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with designers to develop innovative workplace and learning environment solutions.
Collaborate with Pricing Specialists to deliver accurate, competitive proposals that align with customer expectations and company objectives.
Work with Project Managers and Operations to ensure a seamless transition from project award through installation and customer satisfaction.
Coordinate with manufacturer representatives to identify product solutions, pricing opportunities, and project resources.
Maintain open communication with leadership regarding market trends, customer feedback, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities.
4. Financial & Operational Excellence
Develop furniture solutions that balance customer goals, competitiveness, and profitable growth.
Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, opportunity documentation, and proposal history.
Support disciplined forecasting and reporting through organized pipeline management and CRM accuracy.
Identify opportunities to improve sales processes, communication, and the overall customer experience.
Protect the integrity of the sales process by maintaining professionalism, organization, and attention to detail throughout every customer engagement.
5. Team, Culture & Brand Building
Contribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture within the Furniture Division.
Serve as a brand ambassador, reflecting Office Essentials' purpose of creating Vibrant Solutions for Work and Learning.
Build strong relationships across sales, design, pricing, project management, operations, and manufacturer partners.
Share ideas, market intelligence, and customer insights that support continued growth and innovation.
Help strengthen the Office Essentials brand and presence throughout the Columbia and Mid-Missouri market.

Candidate Profile
