ABOUT THE JOB

The Operations Manager, Community Outreach oversees the daily operations and coordination of MU Health Care–staffed services at designated community hospital locations. Works directly with community partners and departmental leadership to coordinate administrative activities and manage community outreach efforts, ensuring alignment between clinical operations, patient care, and community engagement initiatives. Supports community engagement, resource planning, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient access, care efficiency, and satisfaction in alignment with MU Health Care standards.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Serves as the primary contact for community hospitals staffed by MU Health, coordinating departmental communications, supporting care initiatives through workflow integration and performance metrics, and collaborating with partners to ensure appropriate staffing, equipment, and supply resources.
Maintains relationships with local healthcare providers, community organizations, and public health agencies to promote the department's services and ensure access to care for populations.
Ensures community hospital-based departments being served by MU Health are compliant with relevant healthcare regulations, including accreditation standards, licensing requirements, and healthcare laws.
Serves as a liaison between the MU Health department(s) and the community hospital(s), ensuring community needs and feedback are considered in departmental planning and development. Ensure transparent, timely, and effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Collaborates with MU Health department(s) and hospital finance teams to track and report on key performance indicators, such as patient volume, length of stay, and patient satisfaction metrics and provider-specific reports.
Prepares regular reports on departmental performance, community engagement activities, and financial status for senior leadership.
Collaborates with clinical leadership (physicians, nurses, and staff) to maintain effective team communication and address operational challenges.
Implements policies and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency, patient satisfaction, and care delivery and identifies opportunities for improvement.
Maintains current knowledge of federal, state, and local policies impacting emergency care delivery and incorporate necessary changes into departmental practices.
Works with the Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Initiatives and MU Health department leadership to develop long-term strategic plans for service expansion and improvement based on community needs, healthcare trends, and departmental performance.
Assists with budgeting and financial planning for MU Health departments providing hospital-based outreach, monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities for cost efficiency with focus on community hospital partners.
Supports quality and performance improvement initiatives by identifying process inefficiencies, applying best practices, and implementing strategies or technologies to enhance care delivery, increase patient access, and improve patient flow.
Manages, coordinates, and oversees the recruitment, training, and retention of staff, including medical professionals, administrative staff, and support personnel.
Fosters a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting staff morale and ensuring high levels of employee engagement.
Leads a culture of safety through proactive risk mitigation and continuous quality improvement, taking measures to evaluate regulatory readiness routinely. Monitors and analyzes safety and performance metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions for staff and/or patients as appropriate.
May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, or a related area of study.
Five (5) years of experience in healthcare, including experience with community outreach, stakeholder engagement, or public relations.
Three (3) years of program or functional leadership experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in health administration, public health, or a related area of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge can be gained.
Experience coordinating staffing, workflow, and performance management in a supervisory capacity.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
