Full Job Description

We are The Miami Valley Group, an Executive Search and Recruiting Firm and we have been retained by one of our large clients in the Printing industry to go out and find a Vice President of Operations to help them take their team to the next level. Our client is one of the nation’s leading print manufacturers and proudly works with customers worldwide. Their customers represent a wide variety of market segments who rely on them to provide high quality print medium to their customer base. Our client has a team of the highest caliber professionals, all of whom are dedicated to the delivery of high quality print products globally.

What you will be doing:

In this role you’ll oversee plant performance and assume P&L responsibilities for a financially successful manufacturing facility of about 300 associates. You will ensure the facility safely delivers high quality output on time, efficiently and at the best cost structure. The successful candidate will distinguish themself from other applicants by their confident demeanor, “can do” attitude, unrelenting drive and innate ability to command respect, make decisions and lead.

Assess and leverage plant resources to meet or exceed all KPI’s, most importantly safety, quality, productivity, waste reduction and budget.
Set overall plant policies and procedures to ensure effective operations consistent with company business systems, process and values.
Drive continuous improvement within the facility; lead and direct cost/operational improvement projects; achieve productivity targets. Develop and utilize metrics and benchmarking for measuring/improving performance. Understand the drivers of financial performance of the facility and manage the inputs and outputs that drive profitability and EBITDA improvement.
Lead all site manufacturing processes and teams to meet or exceed daily, weekly, monthly and mid- to long-term goals on a consistent basis, identify efficiency issues and propose solutions.
Full responsibility for operations and production in the facility to meet customer schedule requirements.
Manage the Account Planners and Account Managers assigned to the facility to meet customer expectations, quality and service.
Partner with the estimating team and be aligned with the financial profitability of the work being estimated for the plant. Understand the profitability of customer accounts within the facility compared to estimate and driving improvements. Partner with the finance team to understand this analysis.
Play an active role in plant recruiting, employee relations and performance management
Direct and mentor the plant leadership team in the performance of their respective roles consistent with the company leadership model. Assess, upgrade and develop plant leadership capabilities
Translate company strategy into operational initiatives and executable action plans.
Participate in annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic growth initiatives.
Identify opportunities for productivity improvement, cost reduction, capacity expansion, and profitability enhancement.

What you will need:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a minimum of 15 years of operations leadership experience in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing production environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience leading Lean/Continuous Improvement programs in a production environment
Hands-on management skills - desire to take ownership, technically sound, highly driven, proven decision-making abilities, and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Logical problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively communicate with, relate to and motivate all employees
Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills, advanced level preferred
Positive and enthusiastic “out of the box” thinker with a strong desire to grow the business
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus in fast paced environment
Acts as a business partner; sees the big picture and works through ambiguity and change

Desired Skills and Abilities:

Prior industry experience is a plus but not required.
Advanced level of Microsoft Office 365 skills preferred.
