Responsibilities:
- Abide by all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.

Follow hospital policies including confidentiality.

Work the assigned schedule including overtime and call as required.

Participate in the evaluation of environmental safety and intervenes appropriately.

Utilize proper body mechanics when: Moving equipment and/or supplies that is necessary to perform essential functions and transporting/transferring patients
-
Report broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or department head.

Operate low flow of devices.

Perform routine daily cleaning of equipment and reports any needed maintenance
-
Transport patients to and from various departments via wheelchair or stretcher in a safe and timely manner, utilizing proper technique. Transports patients to the morgue as needed.

Assist patients from the bed to the wheelchair or stretcher safely,
-
Transport appropriate patient care equipment with patient when needed.

Knowledgeable in safe medical device management during transport.

Follow principles of positioning for patients in transport of devices (e.g. wheelchair footrests supporting feet). Correctly positions treatment devices such as drainage bags and IVs.

Verify patient identification band and obtains a new one from unit staff if the original is missing or hard to read.

Utilize privacy and exposure techniques while transporting patients.

Adhere to infection control policies in the process of preparing for transport and transporting patients

Abide by hospital safety precautions during the process of transporting /transferring patients.

Use customer relations skills when communicating with patients, families. and other healthcare staff members.

Transports patients to and from various departments via wheelchair or stretcher in a safe and timely manner. utilizing proper technique.

Cooperates. helps others and improves the performance of the unit.

Completes all mandatory unit. educational and hospital requirements.

Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job.

Assists patients getting into and out of vehicles.

Participates on committees as assigned.

Participates in Performance Improvement activities through quality measurement or participation of PDSA process as assigned.

Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements

Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards

Regular and prompt attendance

Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required

Additional Information:
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education Required

Specified positions may require possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama commercial auto insurance policy.

Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
