The Family Center of Washington County in Montpelier is a member of the Parent Child Network of VT whose focus is on supporting and education to families with young children through wraparound service delivery. The goal is to help all Vermont families get off to a healthy start, promote well-being, and build on family strengths. About the Role

The Housing Program Manager is a hands-on leadership position at the heart of our Family Center's housing work. You'll lead our Family Supportive Housing program and related initiatives - supervising and mentoring a dedicated housing team, carrying a small client caseload when needed and representing the Family Center with community housing partners.

This is a role for someone who leads with consistency and care. You'll use a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens in everything you do — supporting your team the same way you'd support a family: with structure, trust, and genuine investment in their growth.

What You'll Do

Lead and Support Your Team: Provide regular, meaningful supervision and coaching to housing staff. You'll be their go-to resource for navigating complex client situations, building their skills in trauma-informed care, and applying the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework in their day-to-day work.
Stay Connected to Clients: You’ll help clients to access and remain in stable housing by supporting staff carrying out this work, and directly by carrying your own caseload, at times. You'll help families access financial empowerment tools, life skills support, tenant education, parent-child resiliency services, and addiction recovery resources.
Build and Sustain Community Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with community organizations through MOUs, coalition participation, and collaborative problem-solving. You understand that no single organization can end homelessness alone, and you show up as a genuine partner.
Family Center Mission & Outreach: Carry the organization's voice and mission into local, statewide, and legislative spaces, advocating for housing stability and family well-being. You'll contribute to organization-wide leadership as a member of the management team.
Keep Programs Running Well: Oversee grant reporting, data entry, record-keeping, and required administrative functions — with an eye toward accuracy and accountability without losing sight of the people behind the paperwork.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
Experience supervising staff in a community-based or human services setting
A background working with families navigating poverty, housing instability, complex needs, or substance use
Familiarity with housing and homelessness resources in Washington County is a strong plus
