Full Job Description

Creative Director — Brand, Video & Social

Stout Conveyors | Montrose, CO | On-site, full-time | Salary based on skill level

We have the product and the people. We need someone to make the world see it.

We build towable telescoping conveyors that let concrete and excavation contractors place material without a crew of guys pushing wheelbarrows. It works. Our customers make money with it. We have a shop full of people who are genuinely good at what they do and actually like being here.

Almost nobody knows any of that.

That's the job. We're hiring one person to take the entire creative side of this company and make it theirs. Your primary mission: turn what happens inside this building into content people want to watch. Not a coordinator. Not someone executing a marketing department's brief. There is no marketing department. There's you, the owner, and a shop floor full of raw material nobody has pointed a camera at yet.

About Stout Conveyors

We're a manufacturer in Montrose, Colorado. We design and build our machines under one roof — laser cutting, press brake, welding, blast, powder coat — and sell them nationwide to contractors in concrete, landscaping, and excavation. We also run a material placement service arm that we're expanding across the country. We're growing fast, we're funding it ourselves, and a good idea gets tested next week instead of next quarter.

What success looks like in 12 months

Our audience is real and growing, and it grew organically because the content is good — not because we bought reach. People in the industry know our people by name. Contractors who've never called us can describe how our machines work. When we post, our own team shares it, because they're proud of how they were shown.

What you'll own

Bring our culture to the surface. Our team, our shop, our process, the stuff that happens on a Tuesday. Find the characters and the moments and build content people follow because of the people in it.
Shoot everything. Our floor, our machines, our customers' job sites. You run the camera. Boots on gravel, not a studio.
Edit everything. Short-form for social, longer-form for YouTube, customer stories, product films, build sequences.
Grow every channel organically. Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn. Post consistently, know what each platform actually rewards, and treat the follower count as your scoreboard.
Make and test the ads. You create new ad creative, split test it against what's running, read the results, and iterate. You won't manage budget or bidding — you'll be the reason the creative gets better.
Write the copy. Hooks, captions, scripts, ad copy. You need to write to a contractor, not to a marketing conference.
Own the brand. How we look and sound everywhere. You'll have real authority and you'll be expected to use it.

What we're looking for

Required:

3+ years producing video and creative professionally — agency, in-house, freelance, or your own channel. We care about the work, not the resume.
You shoot and you edit. Both. Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut, CapCut — whatever you're fast in.
You're good with people. You can walk up to a welder mid-shift, get him talking naturally, and make him look good. This matters as much as your editing. Camera-shy tradespeople are the norm, and getting real footage out of them is a skill.
A track record of growing an audience organically — ours, a former employer's, or your own.
Experience making paid social ads and using performance data to decide what to make next.
Comfortable on a manufacturing floor and on active job sites. It's loud, dusty, and sometimes muddy.
Self-starter. Nobody is going to hand you a shot list.
Capable of utilizing AI to increase workflow.

Preferred:

Motion graphics, sound design, or photography.
Comfortable on camera yourself, if that's your thing.
Background or genuine interest in construction, trades, agriculture, powersports, or heavy equipment.
You've built something from zero followers and know how unglamorous the first six months are.

Compensation, and location

Depending on experience and portfolio. [ADD BENEFITS: 4 Day work weeks, health, PTO, gear budget]

This role is on-site in Montrose, on Colorado's Western Slope. Black Canyon of the Gunnison is twenty minutes away, Ouray and Telluride are day trips. If you've been looking for a reason to leave a city, this is a real one — and we'll help you get here.

Be honest with yourself before applying

This is a one-person creative department. No team to delegate to, no brand book to inherit, no cover if the work is late. If you want a clear brief every morning, this will make you miserable. If you've been waiting for someone to hand you the keys, this is that job.
