Full Job Description

The Staff Accountant will support the Controller and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across the organization. This position will contribute to financial strategy, operational efficiency, and compliance, while supporting both corporate and franchise operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare and review timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Analyze Profit & Loss Statements and Balance Sheets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and support executive decision-making
Maintain accurate financial reporting across the franchisor organization

Financial Planning & Cash Management

Evaluate financial performance, identify inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions to forecast cashflow
Improve working capital by optimizing inventory, receivables, and payables
Support strategic initiatives related to revenue growth and cost management

Accounting Operations

Oversee daily accounting functions using Restaurant365, Toast POS, and Microsoft Excel
Monitor bank activity and ensure accurate transaction matching and account reconciliations
Review and post journal entries, including Inventory adjustments, loan activity, gift card liabilities, investor compensation and distributions, and other closing entries

Franchise & Revenue Accounting

Manage accounting processes related to franchise fees and royalties
Provide guidance to franchisees on financial reporting requirements and proper accounting treatment
Ensure accurate and transparent revenue recognition

Compliance & Tax

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations
Manage sales and liquor tax filings and related agency inquiries
Assist with preparation for annual filings including income tax returns, K-1s, and 1099s

Payroll & Benefits Support

Assist with processing payroll for corporate and store employees bi-weekly
Maintain 401(k) plan updates and administration when needed
Assist with pay changes and employee-related financial updates when needed

Systems & Process Management

Maintain and improve accounting systems and databases, including Restaurant365 and related integrations
Manage vendor setup and fintech integrations
Assist with Microsoft account setup and general user support

Additional Responsibilities

Monitor tip distribution processes and provide support as needed
Maintain investor reporting systems (e.g., Juniper)
Stay current on accounting regulations and industry trends
Support special projects and initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3–6+ years of accounting experience (multi-unit or restaurant industry preferred)
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with Restaurant365, Toast, or similar systems preferred
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
