JOB FUNCTION:

Build trusting relationships with Latinx and New American Family, Friend & Neighbor (FFN) caregivers and those who support them. Use strengths-based tools to support caregivers in their learning journey. Promote children’s healthy physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development. Connect FFN caregivers to services and resources, and help them navigate the Legal Non-Licensed registration process to receive subsidy payments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

One of the following
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and experience in the early childhood field
- CDA Credential
Bilingual or multilingual
Practical experience working with families and/or children
Valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance

Preferred

Associates degree or higher in child development, early childhood, family science, human services, or related field
Knowledge of or experience in early childhood education
Experience with community engagement and/or outreach
Experience working with people with low incomes

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Implement Program Activities

a) Recruit, engage, and support Latinx and New American FFN caregivers through home visits, caregiver support groups, training opportunities, and community events

b) Plan and coordinate culturally and linguistically appropriate training opportunities in participants’ preferred languages

c) Educate and assist caregivers who wish to become registered Legal Non-Licensed (LNL) child care providers

d) Connect FFN caregivers and families they serve to community resources and support programs, including Child Care Assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women, Infants & Children (WIC), Head Start, Medical Assistance, housing and energy assistance, and other available services

e) Conduct annual and ongoing community needs assessments to ensure programs and resources are relevant, accessible, and responsive to local needs

f) Work collaboratively with agency staff and community partners to promote equitable access to early childhood, family support, and community resources

Data and Documentation

a) Track and document all aspects of client support using established reporting systems

b) Collect, track, and report program data and performance measures in accordance with MN Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) requirements and as outlined in the FFN project workplan

c) Prepare reports as required by CAPLP, CCC, and DCYF

Community Outreach

a) Collaborate with community partners to identify and respond to the needs FFN caregivers through culturally responsive outreach and services

b) Seek out and attend outreach events to bring awareness of the FFN program and identify new partners and collaborations

c) Partner with CAPLP’s Family Resource Center program to participate in outreach events

d) Share FFN program information with local businesses and community organizations

e) Attend a minimum of two outreach events per calendar year

Culture and Relationships

a) Develop and maintain trusted relationships with Latinx and New American communities in the service area of MN Region 4 (Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, & Wilkin Counties)

b) Build and strengthen partnerships with cultural organizations, schools, Head Start, First Children’s Finance, county child care licensors, Community Action agencies, and other community partners serving diverse populations

c) Collaborate with community partners to identify and respond to the needs of FFN caregivers

Agency and Division Support

a) Represent Agency in communities we serve

b) Align and build on efforts to achieve a shared vision and common goals in serving people

c) Assist with Agency projects as requested

d) Attend and participate in agency, community and state meetings as requested

e) Participate in agency provided trainings and seek out additional training to enhance professional development

f) Assist with onboarding and training of Agency team members as requested

g) Compile and submit required documentation

h) Availability to work designated Agency hours for your Division and position
