Summary:
The Strategic CSR/ Buyer Manager is responsible for overseeing customer service, purchasing, procurement, supplier coordination, and logistics activities in support of daily operations at the GM manufacturing site. This role combines customer service leadership with purchasing and inventory management responsibilities. The position is responsible for managing the purchasing process from identifying requirements through supplier selection, purchase order placement, delivery, receipt, and reconciliation. The Buyer Manager will monitor supplier performance, negotiate pricing and delivery requirements, maintain appropriate inventory levels, and proactively identify potential shortages or supply interruptions.
Responsibilities:
· Manage the overall purchasing and procurement process for goods and services required to support customer and operational requirements.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for purchasing activities and supplier coordination.
· Review purchasing requirements, inventory levels, production schedules, and customer demand to determine appropriate purchasing needs.
· Identify qualified suppliers and evaluate vendors based on price, quality, availability, lead time, reliability, and service.
· Request and review supplier quotes and negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, minimum order quantities, and other purchasing requirements.
· Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements. Monitor purchase orders from initial placement through final delivery and receipt.
· Manage vendor order confirmations to ensure pricing, quantities, specifications, and delivery schedules meet requirements and expectations.
· Maintain accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders, quotes, supplier communications, pricing, lead times, and delivery commitments.
· Monitor supplier performance and address recurring quality, pricing, delivery, or service issues.
· Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while identifying opportunities for improved pricing, service, and delivery performance.
· Assist with supplier negotiations, sourcing activities, and procurement strategy.
· Ensure purchasing decisions align with customer requirements, inventory objectives, budgetary expectations, and operational needs.
· Review purchasing trends and identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and purchasing efficiencies.
· Ensure timely procurement of critical materials and services to prevent operational interruptions.
· Provide purchasing reports, supplier performance data, cost information, and recommendations to management.
· Review invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
· Investigate discrepancies between purchased, received, invoiced, and billed quantities.
· Monitor purchasing costs and communicate significant variances or cost concerns to management.
· Support cost-saving initiatives through supplier negotiations, purchasing analysis, and improved inventory controls.
· Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify trends, shortages, excess inventory, cost opportunities, and operational risks.
· Maintain accurate documentation and records related to purchasing, inventory, suppliers, customers, and logistics.
· Communicate necessary updates and changes to all affected parties in a timely manner.
· Identify and implement improvements to purchasing, inventory, customer service, and logistics processes.
· Establish standardized purchasing and inventory procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
· Support audits and provide documentation related to purchasing, inventory, customer orders, and supplier activities.
· Ensure purchasing and inventory practices remain aligned with company policies and customer requirements.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of two to five years of experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, inventory management, customer service, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
· Previous Buyer or Purchasing experience is strongly preferred.
· Previous experience managing suppliers, vendors, purchase orders, and inventory is highly preferred.
· Manufacturing or automotive industry experience is a plus.
· Strong knowledge of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, and supply chain processes.
· Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong customer service, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong analytical and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple customer, purchasing, inventory, and supplier requirements simultaneously.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
· Experience with ERP, purchasing, inventory management, or order tracking systems preferred.
· Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing and inventory decisions.
· Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with management, customers, suppliers, accounting, warehouse, shipping, and logistics personnel.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and respond effectively to changing priorities and emergency customer requirements.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
