Full Job Description

Do you enjoy detailed work and get satisfaction from completing orders accurately and knowing the details are correct? Are you someone who appreciates structure and routine but also enjoys figuring things out when something doesn’t go according to plan?

This position offers a unique combination of structured, repetitive processes and changing day-to-day situations. Much of the work follows established steps and requires consistency and accuracy, while individual orders, suppliers, deadlines and issues can vary and require problem solving.

The ideal person enjoys the satisfaction of completing detailed, process-driven work but also likes figuring things out when an order doesn’t go according to plan.

Previous purchasing experience is not required. Purchasing processes can be taught; aptitude, work style and a desire to learn and succeed are more important.

· You genuinely enjoy detailed work and get satisfaction from getting things right.

· You naturally notice when something looks “off” and want to figure out why.

· You’re comfortable shifting gears when deadlines, priorities or unexpected order issues arise.

· You’re a problem solver who is willing to investigate, ask questions and work toward a solution when something doesn’t go according to plan.

This role involves detailed order processing, supplier communication, follow-up and problem solving.

Key responsibilities include:

· Process/purchase and follow orders from start to finish, completing daily order entry and documentation while ensuring information is accurate, order/PO notes and status updates are current, orders continue progressing as expected and customer deadlines are met.

· Work with many different suppliers, communicating regularly and in a timely manner via email and phone regarding order details, confirmations, status, shipping, deadlines and issues.

· Communicate heavily through email with suppliers and internal departments throughout the workday.

· Use, update and occasionally create spreadsheets to organize, track and maintain department information.

· Troubleshoot order and supplier issues, recognizing when something doesn’t look right and determining the appropriate next step or when an issue needs to be escalated.

This is not a customer-facing/customer service position. Our Purchasing Department works primarily with suppliers and internal teams rather than directly with customers.

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

· Strong organization and ability to manage multiple open tasks and priorities

· Ability to learn, retain and apply new processes and information

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proactive communication with managers, teammates and other departments

· Comfortable with frequent email communication and supplier interaction

· Accurate and efficient typing/data-entry skills

· Comfortable working with computers, websites and multiple systems

· Spreadsheet experience is beneficial

· Ability to work independently as proficiency develops while also contributing positively within a team

· Willingness to work overtime when workload requires

Previous experience with order processing, order entry, data entry or other detail-focused work is helpful, but not required. We place greater value on aptitude, accuracy, work style and the ability to learn than on previous purchasing experience.

· Full-time, 40 hours per week

· Monday–Friday

· Standard workday is 8 hours; 8:00 AM–5:30 PM is the typical schedule, with flexibility to discuss alternative start and end times

· Overtime required as workload demands

· Hourly compensation based on experience
