Full Job Description

Role Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations in a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely production of high-quality products. This position supervises production personnel supporting Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), and/or Box Build assembly operations while driving continuous improvement, productivity, quality, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are achieved.
Lead teams supporting SMT, through-hole, final assembly, box build, testing, and packaging operations.
Coordinate staffing, work assignments, cross-training, and overtime to meet production schedules.
Monitor production output and respond quickly to schedule changes, material shortages, equipment downtime, or quality issues.
Ensure production schedules are executed in collaboration with Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality departments.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and process optimization using Lean Manufacturing principles.
Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including: Production efficiency, First Pass Yield (FPY), On-Time Delivery (OTD), Scrap and rework, Labor utilization, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
Conduct daily production meetings and communicate priorities to production personnel.
Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular performance feedback and training.
Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, IPC standards, ESD requirements, and company quality procedures.
Ensure operators follow standardized work instructions, safety procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
Partner with Quality Engineering to investigate nonconforming product, implement corrective actions, and reduce recurring defects.
Work closely with Process Engineering to support new product introductions (NPI), process improvements, and equipment optimization.
Maintain accurate production records, labor reporting, and manufacturing documentation.
Support inventory accuracy through proper material handling and production reporting.
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

Qualifications

Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, with a minimum of 2 years of that in a supervisory capacity. Experience with SMT, PCBA, and/or Box Build manufacturing operations.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or related field preferred.

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of SMT manufacturing processes, Pick-and-place equipment, Reflow soldering , AOI inspection, Through-hole assembly, and Final assembly and box build operations
Experience reading production schedules, work instructions, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.
Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
Experience in an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment.
Knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and ESD standards.
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training/certification preferred.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and data-driven decision making
