Position Summary
Calloway County Fiscal Court is seeking a Certified 911 Dispatcher / Telecommunicator to join our Emergency Communications team. This public safety position involves emergency call taking, dispatching, and coordinating response for law enforcement, fire, and EMS.

Starting Pay & Advancement
- Starting pay: $17.45 per hour
- Final placement within the Telecommunicator classification will be based on qualifications, experience, and internal assessment
- Opportunities for advancement may be available as employees demonstrate competency and meet agency requirements
Essential Duties
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls and assess service needs
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other services using radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Perform emergency call taking and coordinate response efforts in real time
- Operate CJIS/NCIC systems and maintain accurate records
- Provide information and assistance to the public
- Monitor radio traffic and communicate updates to first responders
- Assist with emergency response coordination across multiple agencies
- Perform other duties as needed to support 911 communications operations
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Telecommunicator Certification (required at time of application)
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to pass background screening and drug screening
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Required Qualifications
- Current Telecommunicator Certification (required at time of application)
- Prior experience working as a 911 dispatcher, telecommunicator, or communications officer
- Experience in emergency communications or public safety dispatch
- Familiarity with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, radio procedures, and CJIS/NCIC
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions in high-stress situations
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to accurately enter and manage information in real time
- Ability to prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls
- Knowledge of local geography or ability to quickly learn it
Work Environment
Work is performed in a fast-paced emergency communications center. This role requires prolonged sitting, handling high call volumes, and coordinating radio traffic in a high-stress public safety environment.
