About Our Practice

We are an established, independent medical practice with a close-knit team of 15 professionals and office support staff. Our office is highly collaborative and operates at a steady pace that allows for both high-quality work and a healthy work-life balance. We enjoy a consistent Monday through Friday daytime schedule with no weekend or evening hours.

We are currently looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. If you are someone who loves solving puzzles, has a sharp eye for numbers, and thrives in an environment where your work directly impacts the success of the practice, you will find a great home here.

Position Overview & Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be the engine of our daily administrative and revenue cycle operations. While your primary focus will initially be on front-end workflows and general clerical operations, you will also play a key role in tracking down unpaid claims.

Front-End Billing: Manage daily claim submissions, ensuring high accuracy to minimize rejections.
Patient Interaction: Answer incoming phone calls with a helpful demeanor, answer basic billing questions, and securely process patient co-payments over the phone.
Account Resolution & Follow-Up: Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), research claim denials, and follow up with insurance payers to resolve payment discrepancies. **This aspect will start smaller and scale up as you get settled and comfortable.
Systems Coordination: Utilize industry specific EHR/EMR and billing software to maintain accurate patient records and accounts.
Clerical Support: Handle data entry, coordinate documentation to keep the office running seamlessly, and other general office duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 1 year of Medical Billing experience OR 2+ years of general healthcare administration experience.
Strong familiarity with medical terminology is required.
Experience handling insurance billing on behalf of both patients and practices, including a basic understanding of how to read an EOB.
Strong digital literacy including cloud-based software navigation, multi-tab workflows, and basic troubleshooting.
Familiarity with major electronic health records or hospital systems (such as Cerner, Epic, NextGen, or Meditech) is highly preferred; if you know one major system, we can easily train you on ours!
Excellent phone etiquette, strong attention to detail, and a reliable work ethic.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
