Full Job Description

Job Summary

Hepton Livestock is looking for an experienced Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our accounting team in Nampa, Idaho. This role is responsible for performing the full range of accounting functions across several affiliated companies, with a strong focus on Financial Statement Preparation, General Ledger Reconciliations, Loan and Interest Accounting including CPLTD & Accrued Interest, as well as Fixed Asset Accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple entities, has solid experience in livestock or commodity based accounting environments and extremely knowledgeable in Quickbooks. Looking for someone drama free, loves the team approach, and likes to improve processes to decrease the month end closing timeframe.

Duties

Manage and oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with accounting and operations staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for month end and year end.
Perform cash reconciliations across multiple bank accounts and entities
Reconcile bank loans and equipment loans including tracking balances, payments, and terms. Create amortization schedules for new equipment loans as they occur.
Calculate and record accrued interest on loans and notes payable
Track and report current portion long-term debt
Maintain fixed asset schedules, including CIP, capitalize assets placed in service, dispose of assets, and calculate monthly depreciation.
Prepare and post journal entries and monthly accruals
Perform cattle and commodity reconciliations for multiple companies
Complete general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
Analyze financial data using Excel data analysis techniques such as VLOOKUP functions, pivot tables, and advanced spreadsheet tools to support decision-making.
Prepare detailed financial reports, interpret financial statements, and communicate insights to senior management.
Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and facilitating audit procedures.
Assist with budgeting processes, forecasting, and financial analysis

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
5-7+ of General Ledger accounting experience preferred.
Extensive experience in accounting roles within Ag related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and regulatory compliance accounting
Extremely proficient with financial software including QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel mastery required), especially spreadsheets for data analysis.
Ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple companies
Demonstrated expertise in general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, account analysis, and financial statement preparation.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
Experience with Excel functions is required.
