Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Revenue Cycle to lead our revenue cycle management operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in hospital revenue cycle processes, healthcare billing management, and health insurance regulations. This leadership role involves overseeing all aspects of billing, coding, collections, and compliance to optimize revenue flow while ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.

Duties

Develop and implement comprehensive revenue cycle strategies aligned with organizational goals to maximize financial performance.
Oversee medical billing processes, including insurance third-party billing, Medicare and Medicaid regulations compliance, and ICD coding accuracy.
Manage teams responsible for electronic health records (EHR) management, medical coding, and billing software utilization to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Ensure strict compliance with healthcare billing regulations such as Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance policies while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes.
Collaborate with clinical departments to streamline documentation practices that support accurate coding and reimbursement.
Monitor key performance indicators related to revenue cycle activities; identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective actions.
Lead staff development initiatives by providing training on healthcare billing management, medical coding standards, and team management best practices.

The Director of Revenue Cycle should own measurable outcomes such as:

Days in Accounts Receivable
Net Collection Rate
Gross Collection Rate
Denial Rate
Clean Claim Rate
Charge Lag
Coding accuracy
Patient collections
DME profitability
Workers' compensation collections
Monthly revenue dashboards for the CEO and physician partners

Requirements

Proven experience in hospital revenue cycle management with a strong understanding of healthcare billing processes and medical coding practices.
In-depth knowledge of Medicare regulations, Medicaid regulations, health insurance policies, and compliance standards related to medical billing.
Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications alongside experience with billing software systems and electronic health records (EHR) management tools.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and implement strategic improvements.
Excellent communication skills for collaboration across departments and with external partners.
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field; advanced certifications such as Certified Revenue Cycle Executive (CRCE) are preferred.
