Executive Chef

Downtown Nashville, TN

About the Opportunity

An established upscale restaurant is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead culinary operations for a high-volume, high end dining destination in Downtown Nashville. This position is responsible for maintaining exceptional food quality, developing kitchen leadership teams, managing costs, and ensuring operational excellence across all areas of the back-of-house.

The successful candidate will bring strong organizational skills, proven leadership experience, and a passion for delivering a consistent guest experience through disciplined execution and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Direct all day-to-day kitchen operations
Lead, coach, and develop Sous Chefs and hourly culinary team members
Maintain food quality, presentation standards, and recipe consistency
Manage food cost, labor performance, and kitchen productivity goals
Create staffing plans and oversee kitchen scheduling
Ensure compliance with all local health, sanitation, and food safety regulations
Oversee purchasing, receiving, inventory management, and product utilization
Monitor prep systems, production workflows, and line execution
Train and onboard new culinary employees while maintaining performance standards
Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs when necessary
Partner with restaurant leadership to achieve operational and financial objectives
Evaluate kitchen procedures and implement improvements where appropriate
Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous development

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of Executive Chef experience in a high-volume restaurant environment
Italian or Mediterranean cuisine expertise
Strong background in upscale dining operations
Demonstrated success managing food and labor costs
Experience leading and developing culinary management teams
Thorough understanding of inventory controls, purchasing, and kitchen systems
Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation best practices
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Proven track record of maintaining consistency across multiple service periods

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
