2. Position Summary
As an Accounting Manager at The Hermitage Hotel, you are entrusted with safeguarding the financial integrity and operational excellence of the property. Through precision, accountability, and disciplined execution, you ensure all financial processes, reporting, and controls are accurate, timely, and aligned with the highest standards. Your role is essential in supporting profitability, maintaining compliance, and enabling informed decision making across the hotel.
3. Key Responsibilities
Financial Accuracy & Reporting Excellence
- Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations with precision and timeliness
- Ensure all revenue streams are accurately recorded and validated through daily revenue reporting
- Partner with the Night Audit team to ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper revenue recognition
- Support month end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and financial statements
Cash Management & Controls
- Oversee daily credit card reconciliation and ensure all transactions are processed accurately
- Supervise general cashier functions, including cash handling, house banks, and bank deposits
- Conduct periodic house bank audits to ensure compliance with internal control standards
- Safeguard company assets through strict adherence to financial controls and audit practices
Operational Finance Support
- Support accounts payable processes, including expense review and weekly disbursement cycles
- Provide oversight and support for group billing functions, including coverage as needed
- Review physical inventories and ensure alignment with financial records
- Produce weekly payroll reports and analyze labor in comparison to budget and forecast
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with the Director of Finance and department leaders to support financial performance and operational goals
- Communicate clearly regarding financial results, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Coach and support accounting team members to ensure consistency, accuracy, and development
- Maintain strong cross departmental relationships to ensure seamless financial operations
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements
- Maintain strict adherence to internal controls, audit standards, and company policies
- Uphold confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all financial matters
- Consistently execute responsibilities in alignment with The Hermitage Hotel Standards
4. Qualifications & Requirements
Required Experience
- Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a hospitality environment
- Strong understanding of hotel accounting operations, including revenue, payables, payroll, and financial reporting
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial systems
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English
