Full Job Description

Position Summary

The successful candidate will design, analyze, prototype, integrate, and validate mechanical systems used throughout our marine propulsion control products.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on mechanical design and product development, with opportunities to contribute to system architecture, rapid prototyping, manufacturing support, testing, and product validation.

Working closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and systems engineers, the successful candidate will take products from concept through production, including mechanical design, engineering analysis, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.

Responsibilities

· Design and develop mechanical assemblies, components, and mechanisms for marine propulsion and motion control systems.

· Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

· Perform engineering analysis of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems to support robust and reliable product designs.

· Develop prototypes using rapid prototyping technologies, including FDM and SLS 3D printing, and support evaluation and design iteration.

· Participate in system architecture, requirements development, design reviews, system integration, verification, and product validation activities.

· Prepare engineering documentation including design specifications, technical memoranda, assembly procedures, test protocols, verification reports, and manufacturing documentation.

· Collaborate with electrical, embedded software, manufacturing, and field-service teams throughout product development and production.

· Support manufacturing, prototype assembly, supplier coordination, and continuous product improvement initiatives.

· Take ownership of engineering projects from concept through production, delivering practical, reliable, and well-documented mechanical solutions.

· Investigate product issues, perform root-cause analysis, and develop practical engineering solutions supporting existing and new products.

Desired Qualifications

· B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering discipline.

· Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

· Experience designing mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.

· Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering materials, tolerancing, manufacturing processes, and mechanical assemblies.

· Experience creating clear engineering documentation and technical reports.

· Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.

· Self-motivated engineer capable of working independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Preferred Technical Experience

Experience with many (not necessarily all) of the following technologies and disciplines is desirable:

Mechanical Design

· SolidWorks

· AutoCAD

· Mechanical assembly and component design

· Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

· Design for Assembly (DFA)

· Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

· Mechanical system integration

· Engineering analysis and tolerance stack-up analysis

Prototyping & Manufacturing

· Rapid prototyping using FDM and SLS 3D printing

· 3D printing software (Materialise Magics, Insight, Object Studio, or similar)

· Prototype development and evaluation

· Machine shop practices

· CNC machining (HAAS MiniMill or similar)

· Manual machining and fabrication

· Supplier and manufacturing support

Verification & Product Development

· Mechanical testing and validation

· Root-cause analysis and failure investigation

· Prototype verification and product qualification

· Engineering documentation

· Design reviews

· Product lifecycle support

· Continuous product improvement
