Job Overview

We are seeking a leader for our food distribution operation in the Oshkosh area reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Effective and efficient distribution to local and regional grocery customers with frozen and fresh food products is the primary focus.

The Operations Manager position is responsible for the oversight and execution of cold storage (freezer 10 degrees/cooler 35 degrees) warehousing, distribution and processing room activities, including but not limited to customer/vendor deliveries, order picking accuracy, truck loading, truck unloading, truck routing, accurate inventory management, warehouse efficiency/improvement, product receiving and purchasing activity as directed.

Specific Description of Activities/Accountabilities

These responsibilities are the execution expectations. Delegating the tasks to achieve the following is necessary and expected.

· Accountability for order shipment, order picking, and invoice accuracy – Moving product in and out of the distribution center in an accurate, efficient and safe manner.

· Maintaining accurate inventory records through purchase order generation, and receiving product same day into inventory for all items (Frozen and Fresh)

· Performance management of team and coaching for success – This includes regular employee one on one meetings with documented expectation exchange as well as performance reviews.

· Regular collaboration with all employees for performance improvement - Collaborate with the sales team, drivers, sister companies, and direct team to improve processes and company financial performance.

· Warehouse efficiency and product rotation, FIFO – The monitoring of product fluidity and correct placement of the product to reduce spoilage, wasted labor, and maintenance of a clean and safe environment.

· Training, supervising and disciplining warehouse and processing room leaders, along with assisting in replacing employees as necessary – Direct leadership of warehouse and processing room leads on developing skills, training for improved productivity and career progression.

· Report on building related repairs and recommendations for repair – Formalizing any building repair needs and submitting recommendations for repair through the appropriate channels.

· Accountability for credit memos – Training employees on the credit memo process and overseeing the return of product not spoiled.

· Labor cost evaluation and potential recommendations – Reviewing labor hours and staffing levels to ensure an adequate workload and enhanced productivity per employee.

· Proactive fleet evaluation to reduce transportation cost and create efficiencies between companies – Analyze the capacity of the fleet and find efficiencies for combined deliveries in an effort to reduce transportation spend.

· Product ordering for items used in the processing operation, industrial supplies, and other miscellaneous cooler items as directed. –Perishable item product purchasing, product rotation and vendor relationships.

· HACCP coordination and compliance in collaboration with other HACCP trained employees – Main HACCP POC with responsibility for plant compliance.

· Coordination of fleet maintenance

Preferred Qualifications

- 5 to 10 years of increasing leadership responsibility in food distribution, warehousing, logistics, and/or general distribution activities

- Post secondary education in logistics and/or supply chain

- Proven ability to apply mathematical concepts to the distribution business

- Experience with food safety regulations and HACCP plan administration

- Experience in navigating an ERP, with specific preference for experience using NECS Entree

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
