Full Job Description

Title: Operator

Reports To: Business Area Manager/ Lead Operator

Full Time Position

Non-Exempt Employee

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Minimum one year experience working in a medical facility

Position Summary

Answer and direct telephone calls in a polite and informative manner.

I. Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to the Lead Operator and Administrative Support Manager

II. Principle Accountabilities

Administrative

Operate an electronic attendant console and answer all in-bound calls and transfer or direct calls to the party the caller requests or determine where the caller should be directed, based on information about the purpose of the call.
Process calls when physicians are on trauma call.
Communicate with IT when phone system is not functioning properly and assist in trouble shooting phone issues when applicable.
Train new employees on how to use the phone system if directed by Lead Operator.
Run phone reports monthly and as requested.
Backup to processing mail when Administrative Float is out of office.
Sort, scan and distribute mail.
Send out FEDEX/UPS packages as needed.
Translate when needed.
Update telephone directory as necessary to maintain complete and accurate listings.
Perform other duties as assigned.

III. Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required, but not limited to: Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Twist, Reach, and Stoop/Kneel.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
The employee will have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle and eye strain
Occasional stress from dealing with multiple tasks and patients

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
Knowledge of Intergy, Microsoft Office Applications, and the ability to operate basic Internet software. The individual should be able to operate a computer in order to accurately enter data into a database, search for information, send and receive email and attachments. Must use the internet to access schedules, research insurance information, etc.
