GENERAL SALES MANAGER (GSM)
Income Potential: $8,000–$10,000+ Per Month
We are looking for a hands-on, accountable General Sales Manager to run the day-to-day sales and finance operations of our Ford dealership.
Let's get something out of the way upfront: we are a small-town store in a town of roughly 1000 people. We don't have thousands of customers driving past our front door every day. This is not a store where you sit behind a desk, wait for traffic, and collect a paycheck.
You have to know how to GRIND.
We need a guy or gal who understands how to create business, work every opportunity, follow up relentlessly, hold salespeople accountable, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
WHAT I EXPECT FROM MY GSM
Oversee and produce 40-50 car deals per month.
That means:
- Hold the sales staff accountable every day.
- Work the CRM and make sure leads are being contacted and followed up.
- Desk deals and maximize every opportunity.
- Train, coach, and motivate the sales team.
- Make sure appointments actually show.
- Work unsold traffic and missed opportunities.
- Maintain strong gross while still getting deals done.
- Recruit when we need people and address underperformance quickly.
- Know your numbers and be able to explain them.
- No excuses. Take care of business.
YOU WILL ALSO OVERSEE F&I
The GSM will be responsible for making sure our Finance Department operates correctly and efficiently.
I expect:
- Clean, accurate paperwork.
- Deals funded promptly.
- No unnecessary CIT problems.
- Strong communication between sales, F&I, accounting, and management.
- Compliance procedures followed.
- Products presented properly.
- Deals moving from the showroom to finance to accounting without becoming a mess.
I am particular about how my dealership operates.
I'm not going to apologize for that. I expect paperwork to be right, customers to be taken care of, employees to do their jobs, and managers to know what is happening in their department.
If something is wrong, I want to know about it — and I expect my GSM to already be working on the solution.
WHO WILL SUCCEED HERE?
You will probably love this opportunity if you are:
- A grinder who likes to work.
- Competitive and motivated by money.
- Highly organized.
- Strong at desking and closing.
- Comfortable managing F&I.
- Excellent with CRM follow-up and accountability.
- Capable of leading people without needing to be babysat.
- Willing to jump into a deal when needed.
- Comfortable working directly with an involved Dealer/GM.
- Someone who takes ownership instead of making excuses.
You probably will not enjoy this job if you need a huge metro market, unlimited floor traffic, a giant sales staff, or somebody constantly telling you what to do next.
COMPENSATION
A strong GSM should be able to earn $8,000–$10,000+ per month here.
The opportunity is real, but so are the expectations.
I don't need someone to reinvent the car business. I need a dependable automotive professional who can run the sales floor, manage F&I, keep paperwork clean, hold people accountable, and take care of business every single day.
If you're tired of corporate politics, want the opportunity to make good money, and would rather be judged by your results than your résumé, we should talk.
Apply through Indeed with your automotive management experience and a short explanation of why you believe you can successfully run a small-market dealership where effort, follow-up, accountability, and execution matter.
