Full Job Description

Oversees day to day operations to provide care and supervision to the children in the Head Start classroom using Tri County CAP Head Start developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessment and supporting responsive relationships with children and families. Oversees the facility with follow up if/when there are facility issues.

Ensure compliance with TCCAP policies and procedures, Head Start Performance Standards, federal and state regulations and NH Childcare Licensing requirements, which included following TCCAP HS operational plans and written policies and procedures. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of a safe, health, clean and productive work environment, including both indoor and outdoor facilities.

Responsible for the oversight of the childcare licensing rules and required documentation which includes the additional responsibilities with extended hours of service with children.

Supervises the Associate Teacher, Cook, Family Worker and as needed a Substitute, Classroom Support Staff or other temporary employee.

Perform record keeping including documentation in accordance with Tri County Head Start written plans and procedures, scheduled reports, supervision notes and mandated reporting in a timely accurate and confidential manner.

Ongoing professional development through education, role modeling, mentoring and training.

Conducts home and center visits with families in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.

Build relationships and participate in community collaborations and events to enhance Head Start services.

Other duties as assigned.

A Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field with early childhood credits, that include child growth and development, and childcare administration preferred, a minimum of an associate degree in early childhood education or a related field with early childhood credits that include, child growth and development and childcare administration required.

Summary

As the Head Start Lead Teacher/Site Leader, you will be instrumental in fostering a nurturing and educational environment for young children. Reporting to the program director, your role encompasses classroom management, curriculum development, and effective communication with students and families. With a strong foundation in early childhood education and preschool experience, you will implement engaging learning activities while addressing the diverse needs of children, including those with special education requirements. Your leadership will ensure a positive and enriching experience for all, aligning with our commitment to early intervention and childhood development.
