SUMMARY
This is a 2nd Shift Position. 3:30pm-12:00am
Sets up, operates and maintains a variety of arc and gas welding equipment – including manual and robotic mig and tig equipment – to fabricate parts and assemblies for commercial cooking appliances (such as steam cookers and griddles) and other products where structural integrity and/or appearance are often critical, by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Turns on and initializes/adjusts welding equipment, including robotic welder as applicable, and ensures all settings (e.g. volts, amps, selected robotic program) are in strict accordance with documented process parameters.
Wipes/cleans surfaces to be welded to remove dust, debris, or other residue that may impact weld integrity, as required.
Places workpiece(s) on welding fixture, jig, or table and positions and clamps as required and documented.
Hand welds parts together at specified locations and in accordance with any other requirements, such as weld bead direction and length, as documented in work instructions.
Cycles robotic welder, observes and listens during operation to detect problems or malfunctions, and makes program adjustments (i.e. sets points) as needed to maintain adherence to specifications.
Removes unwanted flux, slag, and/or splatter, as applicable.
Uses files, scrapers, or other small tools to remove burrs and sharp edges or to produce required fit between parts.
Inspects parts/assemblies for conformance to dimensional specifications, using any measuring device employed in the work area and utilizing engineering drawings employing basic GD&T.
Performs welded product leak tests using special equipment; and inspects for conformance to other established specifications such as appearance criteria.
Immediately notifies supervisor and/or consults with welding technician or process engineer when any weld is suspected or confirmed as out of compliance and the cause and or corrective action required is not obvious.
Records production and quality assurance data, such as part numbers, quantities, serial numbers, equipment settings, and inspection measurements/results, on designated forms, tags, charts, or records.
Performs routine operating maintenance of equipment, such as changing filler wire, gas cylinders, tips, and wire guides; may also perform or assist in more comprehensive maintenance procedures.
Performs or assists with maintenance, repair, or prototype welding projects, and in the development of new and revised production processes and robot programs, when so assigned.
Performs all job activities in accordance with training, work instructions, and established company procedures.
Maintains work area (equipment, tools, etc.) in a neat and orderly manner
