NJACP is seeking an energetic, creative, and strategic communications professional to serve as its Manager of Communications & Marketing (F/T).
This is a newly created position.
The Position Description---
This position is responsible for leading the Association's communications, marketing, digital engagement, public relations and branding efforts to advance NJACP's mission, advocacy priorities, and strategic goals. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and working in coordination with other staff members, the Manager will help shape the Association's voice, strengthen member engagement, increase organizational visibility, and tell the story of New Jersey's community provider network.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and storyteller who enjoys wearing many hats, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited to build new initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Association leadership while developing skills for potential growth into a more global organizational role.
The Essential Responsibilities of the Role ---
Strategic Communications
- Develop and implement NJACP's annual communications and marketing strategy.
- Ensure communications support the Association's strategic plan, advocacy priorities, and organizational objectives.
- Maintain consistent branding, messaging, and visual identity across all communication platforms.
- Working with the Director of Operations and the Coordinator of Events and Member Engagement, identify new opportunities to increase member engagement, organizational visibility, and public awareness.
Member Communications
- Lead development of member newsletters, legislative updates, announcements, action alerts, publications, and informational resources.
- Develop and manage the Association's communications calendar.
- Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of legislative, regulatory, educational, and organizational information.
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Operations to develop communications that increase member engagement; demonstrate the value of NJACP membership to be used for membership renewal and recruitment campaigns.
- Monitor communication metrics and recommend strategies to improve engagement.
Advocacy Communications
- Collaborate with the Director of Government Affairs and Advocacy to communicate legislative and regulatory priorities.
- Develop advocacy campaigns, action alerts, issue briefs, fact sheets, talking points, white papers, and other policy communications.
- Translate complex public policy issues into clear, compelling messages for members, policymakers, media, and the public.
Marketing & Digital Engagement
- Manage and maintain NJACP's website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and engaging.
- Manage the Association's social media platforms and develop strategies to increase digital engagement and audience growth.
- Develop digital content including graphics, videos, podcasts, member and strategic partner spotlights, and promotional campaigns.
- Coordinate and manage consultants supporting website development, podcast production, video production, and other communications initiatives.
- Monitor website, email, and social media analytics and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
Public Relations & Executive Communications
- Draft press releases, media statements, opinion pieces, newsletters, and other external communications.
- Coordinate media outreach and identify opportunities to elevate NJACP's visibility.
- Assist the CEO with speeches, presentations, testimony, correspondence, and executive communications.
- Promote member achievements, advocacy successes, and organizational milestones.
Storytelling & Member Engagement
- Develop compelling stories that highlight the impact of NJACP member organizations and the individuals they support.
- Produce member profiles, success stories, recognition initiatives, and feature articles.
- Support committee and constituency groups through targeted communications and promotional efforts.
- Working with the Coordinator, Events and Member Engagement to coordinate communications for awards programs, recognition events, and special campaigns.
Event Marketing & Communications
- Collaborate with the Coordinator, Events and Member Engagement to develop marketing and promotional strategies for conferences, trainings, webinars, meetings, and special events.
- Develop event marketing materials, promotional campaigns, attendee communications, and post-event follow-up.
- Work with the Director of Finance and Operations to support strategic partners visibility as well as sponsors and advertisers recognition before during and after events.
Organizational Leadership
- Collaborate with staff across the Association to advance organizational priorities.
- Recommend innovative communications, marketing, and member engagement strategies.
- Support cross-functional initiatives and special projects as assigned by the CEO.
- Represent NJACP at conferences, member meetings, legislative events, and other external functions as appropriate.
The Candidate We are Seeking---
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Political Science, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Three or more years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, nonprofit communications, association management, government affairs, or a related field.
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to meet the above criteria is acceptable, if other qualifications and competencies are met.
- Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills required, with the ability to communicate complex information concisely, clearly, and effectively.
- Experience updating, editing, maintaining and managing websites, using WordPress or similar.
- Experience in producing and managing consistent messaging across social media platforms, email marketing, and digital communications.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, and changing environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, adaptability, sound judgment, and willingness to learn and assume increasing responsibility.
- Experience with graphic design, video editing, podcast production, email marketing platforms (such as Constant Contact), or content management systems is preferred.
- Association, nonprofit, healthcare, disability, or public policy experience is preferred, but not required.

What the Successful Candidate can Expect---
Travel and Schedule
- This position is a full-time, exempt position.
- All NJACP staff members work the same hybrid schedule: in-office Monday-Thursday; offsite on Friday. Events or other business of the association could require full in-office hours. This schedule could change at the discretion of the CEO.
- Core office hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. It may be necessary to work outside of these hours to meet deadlines or objectives set for this position.
- Some day travel, as well as overnight travel to participate in conferences is required.

- Note: NJACP may start this position as contract to permanent for a short time depending on candidate. Once made permanent, Date of Hire will be original start date.
Leadership Development Opportunity
This position is intentionally designed as a leadership development opportunity for an emerging communications professional who is eager to learn and grow beyond traditional communications and marketing responsibilities. Working directly with the CEO and other NJACP staff, this role will gain experience in executive communications, strategic planning, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, association management and operations, and organizational leadership.
As NJACP continues to grow, this position is expected to assume increasing responsibility and play an integral role in advancing the Association's strategic priorities, strengthening member engagement, and supporting long-term organizational sustainability and succession planning.
