Full Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and drive excellence in our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and safety.

The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on continuous improvement initiatives through the use of Lean Manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing production data, identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing corrective actions, managing projects, and supporting operational excellence initiatives.

This position will evaluate existing manufacturing processes and develop solutions to improve quality, reduce costs, increase sustainability, and establish best practices throughout the production environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and passionate about driving operational improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead optimization of set-up cycle times and improvement of productivity standards by collaborating with CNC machinists and set-up personnel.
Investigate, test, and implement manufacturing processes to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, yields, efficiencies, changeovers, and costs.
Evaluate current manufacturing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend sustainable solutions.
Collect, analyze, and maintain production data utilizing ERP systems such as Epicor and other reporting tools.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to internal and external quality concerns.
Collaborate with equipment designers, engineering teams, and manufacturing leadership to develop cost-effective production processes.
Research, evaluate, and support implementation of new manufacturing technologies, tooling, and fixtures.
Provide coaching and support on Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Lead process improvement projects that deliver measurable operational and financial results.
Facilitate Kaizen events and support lean manufacturing initiatives throughout the facility.
Assist with plant layout optimization and lean implementation for new product development projects.
Mentor and train operations employees on lean principles, standardized work, and continuous improvement tools.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by actively leading projects focused on quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Utilize statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making to proactively solve manufacturing issues.
Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Inventory, Maintenance, Operations, and other departments to support business objectives.
Serve as a key member of the plant leadership team in promoting safety, quality, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Maintain a hands-on presence on the production floor to support and sustain continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field strongly preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Minimum of 5–10 years of manufacturing, machining, or production engineering experience preferred.
Experience within the medical device manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of machining processes involving stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and other materials.
Hands-on experience with milling, turning, and Swiss-turn CNC machines.
Working knowledge of G-code, M-code, and MasterCam programming.
Knowledge of cutting tools and inserts, including proper tool selection based on material type, hardness, and print tolerances.
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 standards.
Familiarity with ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 regulations.
Strong analytical, leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
Proven ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
Excellent communication and team development skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
