Overview:
The Administrative Nursing Coordinator coordinates the delivery of nursing services throughout the hospital on the evening and night shifts. He/she has primary authority and responsibility for ensuring that defined standards of nursing practice and patient care are consistently adhered to on the evening and night shifts. These responsibilities are accomplished through in depth knowledge of management theory, labor relations, and hospital policies and through independent, expedient, and proficient application of communication, interpersonal, interviewing and problem solving skills.

Responsible for the implementation of hospital’s policies and procedures, as well as regulatory agencies codes and regulations as they pertain to the Department.

Responsible for operations and management of the units covering in collaboration with the Director.

Makes frequent rounds to evaluate adherence to standards of practice and patient care including hospital policies, and to make Herself/himself available to nursing personnel for support, coaching, and as clinical role model.

Assesses all 1:1, checks documentation of patient’s restraints, observation, falls, and risk.

Investigates, follows up and resolves if applicable, complaints, incidents, and problems. Communicates analysis, actions and recommendations to Director and/or Nurse Manager.

Address staffing for the shift and the oncoming shift.
- Attend, assess (staff response to code) and monitor (enough resources) all hospital codes inclusive of code documentation.

Responsible for ensuring that all PCS Scope of service, Philosophy of Nursing and Ethical standards are met while delivering patient care.

Reports all patient safety issues and pertinent issues within the shift for follow-up. Ensure CNO and DON are notified.

Establishes and maintains a communication plan for the department.

Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Director and or SVP Patient Care Services.
Qualifications:
Education:
-
Bachelor's degree - Graduate of accredited nursing school (BSN) required.

Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience:
-
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a leadership role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge and Skills:

Critical thinking.

Excellent computer skills in Excel and Word.

Monitors and facilitates the meeting of requirements of NYSDOH, JCAHO and other regulators.

Capable in producing trend and evaluation data and documentation.
-
Knowledge of quality improvement philosophy models, processes and tools and their use in health care integrated settings. Maintains currency with state of the art and regulatory trends.

Knowledge of methods for CQI, and Root Cause Analysis.

Works effectively in integrated structure by establishing effective working relationships with all departments and levels of staff.

Licenses, Certifications:

Current NY State RN License, required.

Basic Life Support (BLS), required.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), required.

Certified in area of Specialty, required.
Physical Requirements:

Physically demanding, high-stress environment requiring prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.

Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 35 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.

An individual in this position may be exposed to: Adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, Blood borne pathogens, Blood and body fluids, Physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.), communicable diseases, chemical hazards, radiation, and repetitive motions.

Full range of body motion, able to lift up to 100 pounds, if necessary, to assist lifting and moving patients.

Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand and eye coordination.

Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.

Frequently sitting at desk working on computer.
